I thought for sure the anti-environmentalists would've had a field day in the comments section already. You know... "wind generators are too dangerous" and that kind of crap.
Never mind the fact that more people are killed in car accidents each day than have ever been killed by wind turbines...
Badly written piece. At first, they say that she fell into a coma after being told about her baby's death, making it sound like she fell into a swoon (what is this, the 1890s?). Bad news doesn't generally put you on life support, unless there's some other problem. The blood poisoning probably had more to do with her coma, and she might've been comatose whether she'd been told her baby had died or not.
I think she's doing the typing herself, Bix. That's what makes the story so remarkable. I read about this yesterday (and it was a more thorough article). It even had some samples of Carly's writing:
But... but... the gun lobbyists say we're more likely to be killed by knives than by guns!
I find it interesting that you're more likely to be shot than hit by a car. Interesting... but not surprising. (I'm guessing these are American statistics.)
That flower's expression perfectly sums up my feelings when I see someone butcher the English language.
If I see someone write something like "I definately need to loose some weight" one more time, I think I'm going to "loose" it. Unfortunately, most people don't even realize how stupid they look... because their friends can't spell or tell the difference between homophones either.
I've tried those. They (unfortunately) don't taste much different than white cauliflower. They're deceiving... because of the colour, I expected the orange one to taste like cheese!
Pets are like members of the family to some. Why does it then seem strange that they would do anything for a few more months? Most people would do that for their human child in a heartbeat.
"That makes about 1,600 people who can legitimately claim that this post made them feel bad."
I'd forgotten that there were so few people with empathy and compassion in this world. Thank you for reminding me that we're only allowed to feel something if it directly affects us.
So we're already thinking about sucking up to our future bosses when we're four? I doubt that. I think it's more likely the first explanation: "It can be to show gratitude for some positive action in the past." Especially since familiar people got more praise.
@Meg & Jamie: 47% is a minority because it's less than 50%. All the other groups are counted together, so they make up the other 53%. But if white folks comprise 47% of the population, they're still the largest single group.
It's already like that in our area. The white people make up less than 50% of the population. A variety of ethnic groups make up the rest... but none of those groups on its own is as large as the white population... yet.

Or does Jesus not rank high enough on the prophet scale to worry about?
