@ Ben

Do us a favor, go to a country where you can experience real hunger. Where not even water is an option. When you don't have your precious organically grown microwave ready vegan meals from Whole Foods and I'm sure you'll be changing your tune.

Most people do not spend their time pretending to be better or different then other animals so as to justify our consumption of them. The only people doing that are the vegans who act holier-than-thou thrusting every animal onto a pedestal. They love to shove their personal life choice down the rest of the world's throat. It's a justification for their inability to accept the natural world as it is.

Nature is not a big happy drum circle. A tiger isn't going to lick your hand and sing you a song because you set it free, it's far more likely to maul you. A bear isn't going to cuddle a salmon and enjoy a big bowl of tofu just because you can't understand that in nature - some animals eat other animals.

It would only be a connection if you've based your life philosophy on being a hypocrite with no grounding in reality. It's nice to hear people in one of the richest countries in the world telling the rest of the world how to eat and act. I think that if you stripped away all the luxury goods of a post-industrialized consumer based society like this one any moron mindlessly repeating the PETA tagline would understand that the natural world is a dog eat dog playground.

I'm passionate about preventing cruelty to animals. It's not right for a human to impose needless harm or neglect upon an animal who often has no choice about their circumstances. I help my mother with her rescue organization so I've seen a fair amount of horrible stuff done to animals. It enrages me and I've confronted the people responsible for it, barely able to keep myself in check from physically lashing out in my own anger. No one who volunteers for my mom likes PETA, and a lot of other true animal lovers do not like PETA.

But .... feeding a cannibal a vegetarian diet? I don't think it would make a difference in helping this alleged cannibal in curbing his cravings. Maybe it's just supposed to make us feel better. Besides, if PETA was serious about this whole "needless killing" line of bullshit, then why don't they ask that all murderers have a sentence of mandatory vegetarianism?

That poor groom. I would hate to married to such an inflated ego. And an inflated bride. Maybe she could have spent less on that ugly cake and gotten a private trainer instead.

Um, I doubt the Indians working at the incoming call centers (i.e. Hewlett Packard's help center) are the same ones pestering you with credit card offers and mortgages. These "idiots" are not the people responsible for the companies sending work to their country because of their cheaper wages and relaxed working standards. It's the investors in these companies (mostly Americans) who have stamped, whined and moaned that need higher profits and be damned if meant sending work to third-world countries.

As for your complaints about their "retarded" accent .... uh, I think you need to look in the mirror sweetheart and apply that term. These "idiots" are speaking in two languages, and even if there's a thick accent and the English is struggling a bit, it's more than what I'm sure you capable of doing.

If you are American (or even British) do your country a favor, never travel abroad. People like you give America a bad name.

"inspectors were expected to investigate"

Did they forget to add that they were going to investigate this woman's stupidity?

I don't really have any sympathy for her since standing up on a moving ride while thirty feet in the air is very stupid. She made a bad choice and good for her, she gets to live with the results of it.

Anyone think she'll sue?

Maybe someone else pointed this out, but Christopher Reeve is the only person on your list whose condition was the result of an accident, not a genetic disorder that was present at birth or developed as the individual aged. I just think he's a poor example, he never cared about anyone with spinal injuries before he had his own. After he was injured then he devoted time and gads of money trying to solve the problem his accident caused.

@ Kaka

Your comments regarding foreign adoption are horribly wrong. I went through the social services department of California when I was a child, and all the adults who were supposed to make decisions about child welfare were nothing short of corrupt, and I decided when I was young that I would not adopt from that same system. Those of us adopting from outside the US do so for reasons that go far beyond holding a baby. We want to be parents, to welcome a child into our lives that we can love and raise and send out into the world. It's not just HOLDing a baby, and it's not importing either.

People like you Kaka, make this world an ugly place.

Wow.... people are starving in the world, and this what some choose to devote their careers to? I just don't get the purpose of fashion. Clothes are clothes.

'Trying to wind my wife up...'

Uh, who is exactly is supposed to be the more highly evolved species here? If you can't handle a bird pissing you off, what hope do you have for moving outside your own front door?

Yeah, if he'd rather follow the dictates of some make believe fantasy creature then why not refocus energies on someone who wants a surgery? There's people all over the world who would like tumors like that removed, but because they live in mostly third-world nations do not have the option to receive or seek medical attention.

On the flip side, maybe his 'god' wants him to have this tumor? Maybe this 'god' finds it really funny that this is a treatable medical condition and is playing a joke with the guy, seeing how much he'll tolerate his stupid rules. Just like Job huh?

Fazia, I was very concerned. The dog is funny as hell, and that bit where she picks up the snake is good for a grossed out laugh. But her parents are letting her watch the wrong channels for this girl to learn to dance like that.

Eh, sorry linty - I think most cats do care how much you spend on them. The more the better. Just because they don't use all the expensive gadgets we buy for them doesn't mean the furballs don't expect us to shower them with partially useless gifts.

Wait a minute folks!

This woman is a lawyer, she would have taken classes in law school on basic contracts. As such, when she started feeling uncomfortable with the terms set forth by the florist, why didn't she stand up and say, "Thanks, but no thanks." It's not like this was the only florist in the whole world. When you consent to a contract that you are not comfortable with, whose fault is it when things go wrong?

I don't think this woman deserved a bad deal just because she was spending $37k on flowers for one day (I do think she's got some strange priorities), but she did get what she was asking for when paying all that money up front and agreeing to terms she wasn't comfortable with. Tsk, as a lawyer she's been educated not to fall into these traps. Of course, this also says she's not really that skilled of a lawyer if she couldn't handle a basic contract.

It might be just fun fiction, but tobot is right. It is lifted, word for word from Brook's Survival Guide. A search of the author's name; Renée Friedman, turns up only stuff that links right back to the article.

It's a bit early for a viral isn't it?
