You forgot IBM's computing machines that the Nazis used to keep track of all the people they captured. It was archaic but the system was like the precursor to Excel, allowing them to categorize every single prisoner in terms of where they came from, what camp they went to, how they died, why they were captured (Jewish, Homosexual, Gypsy, etc). It was terrifyingly efficient for the Nazi regime and definitely qualifies as a computing system. Ah, technology.
Yeah parents seem prouder of their boring kids than previous generations. My parents never thought I was extraordinary enough to bully teachers into giving me what I wanted even when I showed some skill. And I turned out to actually not expect things to go my way..how about that? My mother also worked and wasn't bored enough or had the time to conspire with other mothers to make a teacher's life hell even if she wanted to.
If a pet is like a kid then $200 isn't a lot. Also, it sounds like they might have just found the dog and used it to get money. Anyway, if the cops are busier with crimes against people I have nothing against this.
Kaboom: No one said anything about polar bears being cuddly. Almost no wild animal is cuddly but that has nothing to do with peoples' interest about conserving nature. And I have no idea what school you went to or what books you read but polar bears' habitats are definitely dwindling away and while the population is currently stable, scientists predict the migrating behavior to increase while populations decrease drastically in the next decades due to global warming and pollution. I do agree however that in the grand scheme of things 99% of species will die off eventually so I'm not a super conservationist but the knee-jerk reaction of the Icelander cop was still startling.
That's cute...the first part with the ice flow and the walking about not the helping the species disappear part. These bears will definitely become extinct soon unless they manage to migrate to places with food and shelter..apparently Iceland is no bears allowed.
@Thomas..agree. OPEC used to not be so smart about their resource..early on we (the United States, England, etc) were on the winning end of that deal and now we aren't and we shouldn't be because you know..it's not ours.
You don't just forget hundreds of thousands of dollars in bills..and when you're Ed McMahon you also aren't THAT busy. It's not the end of the world if you live in a place that costs less than millions..give me a break. I hope he didn't make that appearance hoping to garner sympathy or worse..donations.
I didn't think it was that big before fertilization!
