The first time I ever heard about a body farm was when I read Patricia Cornwell's book 'Body Farm'... and for me- that's exactly what came to mind when I read this post. I think it is a good thing to do with your body, though, if you want to donate it to something- they've learned a whole lot about death and forensics from places like this.

I thought they did ok, actually. Probably would not have occurred to me to do this but they obviously put a lot of work into it and it's pretty unique.

There are some pretty neat desks at the link... I love the first one they show- love the book shelf underneath!

some pretty amazing pictures. The juxtaposition of suffering with playing is almost as shocking as some of the pictures.

Whoa- back off up there emiiiiiiil. Don't waste your (precious, I'm assuming) time commenting if you can only spew garbage like that.
I understand why you might put boots on your dogs when you take them out for a walk... don't think I'd do it, though. I reckon they get used to it fast enough, though.

Makes you wonder what the person who received the package had for 'lunch'...

I don't have kids of my own but have taken care of lots of babies- can honestly say I don't mind a baby spitting up on me- well, ok- it's not going to be the highlight of the day but it doesn't ruin the day, either.
My nephew's worst massive diaper failure was while my sis and mom were shopping. Sis had just gotten a couple of 'post pg' things to try on in the fitting room and g'ma was holding the baby when- ka-boom! Right up the back of him and out the top of his neck! Of course, there was no really good place right there to clean him up but they really couldn't go anywhere to do it, either. Mom said later they were just glad to get out of the store! (Without the new clothes.)

ditto Craig up there. There's not enough teaching going on outside of the classroom anymore. This kid will be a whole lot more pleasant to be around later on if he learns a few things now- like don't be obnoxious. I hope the district stands by this driver.

I guess texting while driving becomes a bigger issue when someone you know personally has become a paraplegic because the chick that was texting ran over him while he was stopped at a 4-way (he was on a motorcycle, she was in an SUV)... she was texting at the time and had no idea there was an intersection, stopped traffic... anything. She dragged my acquaintance quite a way under her vehicle before she managed to stop. My acquaintance is paralyzed... forever... he's in his 40's, has a young son as well as grown kids.
The point here is not that she was doing something legal or illegal- the point is- she was being profoundly stupid and her action forever altered an innocent person's life... and- she has to live with it now, too. Whether or not it's legal has NOTHING to do with the stupidity of the action. People do it all the time and are all the time endangering someone else because of it. Of course, other life-altering accidents happen all the time that are completely unrelated to texting, multi-tasking, drinking (I can't even believe you have the gall to mention that- maybe you or someone you love will get hit by a drunk someday and feel differently; I don't wish it on you- it's a horrible price to pay). The part of education in this? I think we've all been educated... and Guess what? It hasn't stopped anything. I'm all in favor of laws that punish people who KNOW BETTER but do stupid stuff anyway and then, in the process, destroy other people's lives because of their irresponsible behavior.
I don't think this has anything at all to do with 'ooo- someone's breaking a rule'... and everything to do with crazy people driving and simultaneously doing something that endangers other people's lives. There is a reason why the laws were created to begin with.

I guess the reason I really don't see the point in the experiment is because it seems to me it really has been proven already. I smell bread- I'm hungry, mouth waters, stomach twitches. There are a lot of sensory inputs that always create the same reaction in me- maybe not always literally drooling- but always the same reaction. To me, it seems the above is basically attention-getting and a bit odd- the contraption on the head. (Although- he's got a good set up there with the phone rigged to trigger a lemon juice release into his mouth.) I guess it's his deal. Just seems odd to me. :)

And is there any relevance at all to the experiment? Who wants to salivate when their phone rings??? It seems to me the basic point has already been proven so why exactly this?
I guess I just don't get it. :(

Umm- the title of the post is still reading 'project...' which does make it sound somewhat intriguing... and mysterious and all...

Fast forwarding past all the reasons why I've stayed with MS (for the most part) and why I don't use Apple, ever- I'll just say- It was enormously gratifying the past couple days as my Mac obsessed friend (who's never missed a chance to extol the sheer awesomeness of all things Apple) used my lowly Dell with MS OS and Chrome to 'do things that I can't do with my Mac'. I managed to keep my mouth shut about the whole irony of it all but it did feel like poetic justification for all the badgering I've taken the past 2 years.
Ok- and I will say something about why I haven't switched to Mac. 1) the price. 2) the attitude- like that of my friend. Just get over yourselves already, ok? I've noticed that the Mac people like to go on at high volume about the superiority of their stuff- faster, easier, whatever... but if you keep your mouth shut and listen- they'll eventually get around to talking about the limitations of Apple stuff. I lived with an Apple fan for 2 years- his machine crashed- just like mine does occasionally; it locked up- no less often than mine does (not often)... The attitude seems to be what Apple is all about.
