Gulf War veteran Arthur Boorman suffered from back and knee problems due to jumping out of planes too many times. Reliant on crutches and braces, he gained weight over the years until he made up his mind to do something about it. He started doing low-impact yoga, and kept it up for a year. Stick around until the end of the video to see the results. -Thanks, Robert!
This is not an article that advocates being lazy for longevity, but five stories of rare coincidence that don't really have a lot to do with everyday life. But for these five folks, it was a good thing they were late to the appointment when disaster was waiting for them. Like that night back in 1979 when Anna Williams wasn't in any hurry to get home by her usual bedtime. Good thing, because the BTK killer was there waiting for her return.

That's the alias of Dennis Rader, who gave himself the name BTK (it stood for "bind, torture, kill"). He was a serial killer who was active from 1974 to 1991, murdering 10 people (he wasn't caught until 2005). This was 1979, right in the heart of his rampage, and Rader stalked Anna Williams for months. Finally, while she was out, he broke in, cut the phone lines, picked out a few souvenirs to take home for his collection and waited.
And waited. And waited.
When Williams got home, she found that her house had been broken into, and that her phones were dead. She looked through the house to find ... there was no one there.
Rader had gotten tired of waiting and just left.

If the movie The Avengers were made with animals instead of human actors, we've already found the perfect cast. They even come with their own adorable costumes! Pictured here is Nick Fury (or is it Nick Furry?) played not by Samuel L. Jackson, but by a sweet Boston Terrier. See the rest at Buzzfeed. Link
Happy Star Wars Day! As a Star Wars Day gift, Mark Anderson of Andertoons gives you a quick tutorial on how to draw R2D2. Leave one on your refrigerator for the holiday, or decorate a note to someone and say "May the fourth be with you!" Link -Thanks, Mark!
This game is based on the old TV show Perfect Strangers. The goal is to chase your dream. No, it doesn't take much skill, but I think you'll get a kick out of it! Link -via Gorilla Mask
We've posted a lot of stories about crimes that didn't turn out as the perpetrators expected, you know, dumb criminal stories. This one, however, takes "defeating the purpose" to another level -that of mopery.

The British Council has released a collection of films produced in the 1940s to show the world how the British lived and worked.

Over 120 films were produced as 'cultural propaganda' to counteract anything the Nazis might throw out and to refute the idea that ours was a country stuck in the past. These films were designed to showcase Britain to the rest of the world, at a time when Britain itself was under attack.
Seen by millions of people in over 100 countries worldwide from the 1940's to 1960's, they present a historic snapshot of Britain, portraying its industry, its landscapes, and its people. The Collection is fantastically varied, covering anything from how a bicycle is made, to how the British spend their Saturdays.

Have you picked out any movies to watch at home this weekend? You may find some suggestions for one you haven't seen in the list of Six Lesser Known Movies With Mind Twisting Endings. Remy Carreiro tries to give you enough about a film to make your mind up about seeing it, without ruining the twist, as in the film Arlington Road.
Of course, if a movie is on this list, you know it has a twist, so you may spend the entire time watching it trying to figure out what it will be or how it will play out. Read about them all at Unreality. Link
This is a movie about a college professor, played with usual aplomb by Jeff Bridges, who suspects his new neighbors of being terrorists. Do not be mistaken, though. These neighbors are not your typical Hollywood versions of third world terrorists.
No, what makes this film so terrifying is the fact that his neighbors are apple pie cooking, baseball loving Americans. Tim Robbins plays the neighbor, and does and delivers an absolutely mesmerizing performance, that, in my opinion, is a more honest and chilling portrayal of evil than I have ever seen. Honestly, I almost feel compelled NOT to spoil the ending of this film , because I truly believe too few of you have seen it, and I don’t want to ruin the sad realization the viewer gets hit with the exact second the Jeff Bridges character does.

John Spevacek is a chemical engineer with a confession to make. You may have noticed that snack bags are more difficult to open than they were years ago. Spevacek comes clean and takes the blame. Here's how the project came about.
So really, Spevacek is not so much to blame as the altitude of the Rocky Mountains! He goes on to describe the process of making bags and packing chips and how the new kind of seal was attained. Chip-lovers should read this, then forgive him. Link -via Gizmodo

I was in the Packaging Films Group, making multilayer polypropylene films for food packaging. The film had a heat-seal adhesive on one side of the polypropylene base. One of our larger clients used our films to make potato chip bags. The problem they had with our existing films was that the they seal was too weak. The client's chip-making plants were located west of the Rocky Mountains, so when trucks would drive their chips out to California, some of the seals would open up due to the pressure difference between the high altitude air and the air sealed inside the bag. And so they needed a stronger seal from us, which was then passed down to me.

A lost parakeet flew into a hotel in Sagamihara, Japan, on Sunday and landed on a guest's shoulder. Since no one knew where the bird came from, it was taken in a cage to a local police station. For two days it sat there. Then Tuesday night, the parakeet must have decided it was time to go home.

Despite giving no indications that it could talk, the bird suddenly piped up late on Tuesday night and began repeating its home address – which its owner had apparently drummed into the bird for just such an unlikely eventuality.
Specifying the address down to the number of the house and the block on which is stands, the bird enabled police to track down its 64-year-old owner.

I've seen a lot of fan-made Avengers videos lately, but this one is not only funny, but it skewers two pop culture phenomenons at the same time! It's a parody of the song "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction. -Thanks, Kayilen!
