In a delicious rebellion against adulthood, the bloggers at We Are Not Martha bought a box of Fruity Pebbles--the Flintstones-themed sugary cereal--and put it to good use. They baked pebbles into the donut batter and sprinkled them generously on the icing.
Halloween is my favorite holiday so it's my pleasure to introduce our
new Halloween blog here on Neatorama called Batty for Halloween. As
you might've guessed, this new blog is dedicated to everything
Halloween. We'll feature Halloween costumes, decorations, festivities
and trivia every day (Because every day should be Halloween!) Our goal is simple: put the best Halloween-related items under one blogging roof to make for easy browsing and reading.
Undoubtedly, you'll have seen some of the costumes and decorations featured here from Halloween past - but these may still serve to spark your creativity and inspiration. Think of them as ideas for this year.
So check back regularly for more fun Halloween posts and be sure to visit

The great news is that no one at the Neatorama office has to be left out! "Aw, John, you know I'd love to dress up as a pony at work, but there aren't enough wigs to go around." No siree. Etsy seller Erin has made many wigs, including ones for obscure characters such as Snips, Snails and Cadence.
Do
you fiddle with your cell phone while eating at a restaurant? Owner and
chef Mark Gold of Eva Restaurant is waging a brave battle against "distracted
dining" with this new policy: a 5% discount if you check your cell
phone at the door.
"For us, it's really not about people disrupting other guests.
Eva is home, and we want to create that environment of home, and we
want people to connect again," he explained. "It's about two
people sitting together and just connecting, without the distraction
of a phone, and we're trying to create an ambience where you come in
and really enjoy the experience and the food and the company."
Gold said instating the suggestion reminds him to keep cell phone
usage at bay, too. "I'm guilty of it as well. When [my wife and
I] go to dinner it seems like the cell phone is part of the table setting
now. Every table you look at, it's a wine glass, the silverware and
the cell phone," he joked.
These strange yet masterfully crafted sculptures are by Gal Weinstein, an Israeli artist who created the tire fires as a statement concerning pollution.
They are made out of (among other things) wool, wax and a not so eco-friendly medium-styrofoam.
Still, as works of art it's unlikely that they'll end up in a trash dump anytime soon, and the highly sculptable medium allowed Gal to add a lot of detail to these remarkable pieces.
We've been so busy with the new site that Neatorama's seventh anniversary just slipped right past me! Alex is not one to celebrate such things, so I feel the need to point out that Neatorama was born on August 9th, 2005, with this innocuous little post:
It was two years before that post got its first comment. At the time, Neatorama was Alex's hobby, and he made a commitment to post five "neat" items a day, which eventually paid off. Now the site has over 48,000 published posts, a half-dozen authors, sub-blogs and social networking adjuncts, and a shop to support all the rest. And now we have our own blogging platform! It's been a great seven years.
Oh,
the irony. The leader of a far-right anti-semitic political party in Hungary,
who was notorious for his incendiary comments against Jews, discovered
that he's actually Jewish himself:
... Csanad Szegedi had in the past railed about the "Jewishness"
of the political class. According to the ADL, his party's presidential
candidate referred to Israeli Jews as "lice-infested, dirty murderers."
For Szegedi all of this came to a screeching halt, when in 2010
a prisoner confronted him with evidence that he had Jewish roots. According
to the AP, Szegedi tried to bribe the prisoner to keep him quiet, but
rumors and innuendo reached a fever pitch by late last year and in June,
Szegedi conceded that his mother was a Jew. According to Jewish law,
that makes Szegedi Jewish, too.
Not only that, but Szegedi's grandmother survived Auschwitz and
his grandfather survived labor camps.
I want one of these. I don't have a yacht, but the Neatorama warehouse should be an adequate replacement.
FreeStyle Slides makes only one product, but it's an awesome one. Each slide is custom made to fit your yacht's height and color scheme. Watch a video at the link.
Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, has been drenched with 11
days of rain from Typhoon Saola. More than half of the city is under water,
but that didn't stop this loving couple from celebrating their wedding!

As firefighters in Chile battled a house fire, photographer J. Monsalve
noticed a dog going back and forth rescuing her puppies. The dog, named
Amanda, dragged her 10-day old puppies one by one and placed them in the
safety of a firetruck.
I’ve seen plenty of zombie crossovers, and Disney princesses are constantly being used as the subject of genre crossover art, but I’ve never seen those fairy tale gals looking so gruesome!
Created by Witit Karpkraikaew, this series leaves the beauty behind and focuses on the truly ghastly nature of the undead.
Photographer Hannah Stonehouse
took this marvelous photo of her friend John Unger swimming with his dog
Schoep, who at 19 years old, now has arthritis and has trouble sleeping.
Unger found that the water helps the dog's pain and takes the dog to Lake
Superior to lull him to sleep. The photo has gone viral on Facebook,
and it's easy to see why.
