Dogging Is A Lot Harder Than It Looks

(Video Link)

Yo dog, I heard you like to catch balls, run around, jump and otherwise act silly, but you're kinda failing at all those things in this video. What's up with that, dog?

Well, at least they look cute.

The Avengers As Mythological Chinese Immortals

There are Eight Immortals in Chinese mythology and while their stories are pretty darn fascinating, I can't help but want to hear some of the amazing myths about the eight Avenger immortals painted by Chinese Illustrator and Weibo user Xia-a

The choice of which Avenger fills the role of which Immortal isn't just random. For example, He Xiangu is Black Widow, which is appropriate because "He Xiangu is the only female among the Eight Immortals, as Black Widow is among the Avengers. She is often seen with lotus flowers.”

10 Things You Can't Name Your Kids

We previously talked about how Batman Suparman is a bona fide criminal, but did you know Superman Leisten was banned from Sweden -well, his name at least. The judge ruled that the name Superman was too close to a surname so his parents had to pick something else. This decision was found particularly questionable given that names like Tarzan and Batman were both allowed before that.

And that's just one of the ten weird stories of names that were banned in certain countries. There's even one story that takes place in the US. So read the rest of the list at Top Tenz.

Horrifying Prehistoric Creatures That Aren't Dinosaurs

If you're scared of snakes then you certainly wouldn't be a big fan of the Titanoboa -the largest snake in history. This creepy critter stretched out 40 feet in length and weighed up to 2,500 pounds. The Titanoboa  appeared right as the dinosaurs started to disappear, which left it a great niche to fill as a top predator. I've heard rumors of man-eating snakes, but all of those have proven to be fictional -on the other hand, this guy could easily munch down on a man.

He is Vigo! You are like the buzzing of flies to him!

Redditor Sloppy_Episiotomy posted this picture of his baby's nursery saying, "The wifey said I have to take this down from my daughter's nursery immediately or she's taking the baby and leaving me." While some sites, like Nerd Approved have claimed that this is not appropriate decor for a baby's room, others have argued that it's a perfect way to start indoctrinating your children to love geeek culture from a young age. It's also a great option if you want your child to get possessed by a god. What do you guys think?

Cannoli Donuts Are the Best of Both Worlds

Donuts are delicious and so are cannolis, but the best part of the cannoli is certainly the inside, while the deep-fried dough of the donuts is heavenly. So why not stuff the donut with cannoli filling? The creator at Oh Bite It warns that these are dangerously addicting and you might find they disappear before your very eyes.

This Puppy Was Adopted After Five Years When His Picture Went Viral

No kill animal shelters are wonderful, but while it's better than being put to sleep, when animals are left up for adoption for years, it is still a big bummer to both the animals and the volunteers. That happened to little Chester. He was at the shelter for five years and volunteers were heartbroken to see the sweet pooch get overlooked time and time again. That's when they decided to post the picture above.

Within a matter of hours, the Facebook image was shared 6,000 times. Someone suggested they make a page just for Chester and the page now has over 6,000 views. While Chester, of course, was adopted almost immediately, the shelter plans to keep Chester's Facebook alive to help promote the adoption of other long-term residents.

Peep Out These Totally Charming Artworks Made From Peeps

We've featured Peep dioramas in the past, but the Carroll County Arts Council's Peep Show takes things beyond mere dioramas (though they still have a few of those too). Their delightful display transcends a variety of art forms, including sculptures made from Peeps and paintings based on our favorite overly-sweet Easter treats.

If you live in the area, you can still make it to the show, but hurry because tomorrow is its last day. You can eve buy some of the artworks if you so please. As for the rest of us, we'll just have to settle for this slideshow from Refinery 29 featuring a few art pieces in the current exhibit and the Carroll Arts Center's Flickr that features many of the Peeps creations from past years.

A Quick History of Cadbury Eggs

If you're among the many, many people out there who recently gulped down the sugary filling from a Cadbury Egg today, chances are you probably didn't think for a second about how that particular Easter confection got its start. But the story of the Cadbury Egg is surprisingly interesting.

It all started in 1824, when John Cadbury opened up a shop in Birmingham, England. No, it wasn't a candy shop -it was a cafe. In 1831, he and his brother decided to open a factory to produce better drinking chocolate for the cafe. It wasn't until much later that Cadbury even started working on making moldable chocolate and his famous egg wasn't born until 1875. The eggs we eat today weren't created until almost 100 years later though.

These Rats Are Beyond Adorable

Did you know yesterday was World Rat Day? I sure didn't but I'm glad that I found out even if it was a little late. So what is World Rat Day and why do rats need their own holiday?

Because rats get a bum rap, but they actually make pretty great pets. Rats are smart, friendly and surprisingly cuddly. World Rat Day aims to educate people about rat ownership and to help spread the good word about these adorable little friends.

To celebrate World Rat Day, Bored Panda started an open list of adorable rat pictures. It started with 18, but since they allowed users to submit their own, there are now over 150. Even if you missed the big day, you can still enjoy these precious pics.

These Elements Sure Know How to Party

(Video Link)

The interaction of elements is a fascinating field as they make up the building blocks of life, but unless you're a chemist, you might not remember how certain elements react to one another. Fortunately for you, this delightful video by the European Commission European Research Area is here to illustrate these interactions.

Travel the High Seas With Your Fellow Geeks!

If you've been thinking about going on a cruise but have been waiting until you found one that was best suited to your geeky interests, then I have good news for you -you now have two different nerdtastic options. Option #1 is this year's Comic Con At Sea, which will be taking place in June. This floating convention will offer guests from Star Trek, Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, Justified and more as it arrives to an array of famous European destinations including Rome, Barcelona and Naples.

For those who prefer their travel to have a little more levity, Musician Jonathan Coulton has just announced plans for his sixth annual JoCo Cruise. This Caribbean cruise will depart next February and while most guests have yet to be announced, travelers are promised a bevy of comedic, musical and geeky entertainment -including a 24-hour tabletop gaming room. So my nerdy travellers, which one would you prefer to board?

Make Your Own Galaxy Easter Eggs

Earlier this week I wrote a list of 10 cool ways to decorate your eggs this Easter, but if none of those seemed up your alley, perhaps you're looking for something a little more... heavenly. Well then these eggs from Dream A Little Bigger are sure to help. These beautifully spacy eggs are filled with stars, nebulas and more.

The process is surprisingly simple -though quite messy, and the results are absolutely striking.

Peeps Skillet S'mores Make Easter Droolworthy

There are a lot of people out there who find Peeps just too sugary with no depth of flavor. These Peeps peanutbutter chocolate skillet s'mores featured on How Sweet It Is offer a wonderful way to fix that problem.

Not only is the sugary-sweetness of the Peeps slightly negated by the other ingredients, but the pure sugar on the outside of the marshmallows is given a chance to break down and caramelize, making the Peeps themselves more complex and delicious. Whether you love Peeps or hate them, if you like s'mores, you'd probably love this recipe. I know I'm going to run out and buy some Peeps right now.
