This is an argument which puts the carriage in front of the horse. It's just moronic. As far as I can tell, and I am a believer in a God, belief in God has very little to do with whether or not someone decides to engage in evil acts. Therefore, moot point.

Don't know if I could tell that he "loves himself" or not during that performance. It is hard as hell to accomplish something like that, let alone accomplish it while maintaining such a level of grace and demeanor. I give him props. It reminded me of watching Evelyn Glennie (fantastic percussionist) perform Schwantner's Concerto for Percussion. Hypnotizing.

Since everyone has already done a great job of re-explaining the tenants of compliance, I will take a moment to point out that when the scientist gets excited, he starts sounding like Harry Carey from SNL?

"If the moon was made of barbecue spare ribs would you eat it? I know I would. I'd wash it down with a nice cold budweiser?"

Ah, yes. A truly beautiful instrument and sound. For a uniquely similar sound, listen to "God Music" from George Crumb's Black Angels for amplified string quartet. It's all done on amplified violins, viola, and cello. A truly gorgeous and haunting section of a truly groundbreaking piece. If you listen to the opening of the piece, be careful. Very loud.

If you want to hear another interesting use of pitched wine glasses, check out Joseph Schwantner's "And the Mountains Rising Nowhere". Dr. Schwantner taught my composition instructor, Dr. Roger Briggs, also an awesome composer (you can find him on Facebook), at Eastman music conservatory.

It's a play on words people. Just a play on words. Of course, it just goes to show how personally people take this type of stuff. There is no room for chuckling... only a very strict and tight-ass view about the world and the inherent controlling philosophies of everything.

Precisely the type of total BS that perpetuates the lie that we can survive as a planet purely off solar power. Do the people that put this forward even realize how expensive it will be to produce such large fields of solar panels? And that doesn't even mention that if we put them all in the most stable areas it creates a massive target for destroying our power infrastructure. What a bunch of putz morons.

Um... having spent about a year-and-a-half writing only imitative counterpoint and fugue, I can firmly say anybody who says "Oh it's in 4/4 so everything will sound good together" has their head firmly planted up their bung. And, btw, I write modern art music, so I am aware of the genius of Xenakis and all of his cohorts. But, when you write a successful crab canon that has interesting phrasing, apex, and form, I will remove your title as "dunderhead".

FishBottleT: Well, at least if they snort it, the nostril hairs will catch most of the expanded chocolate powder. I'm sure that it would give you quite the uh... buzz...

Theft. Even if they could make such technology available, people would strip it out and use it for personal gain. It's a no-brainer. One would have to police it constantly to insure someone didn't just take it. As such, we're better off having guarded facilities which run solar power from mostly uninhabitable heat regions to generator stations and ques which power our habitable zones. We can maximize our solar intake while maintaining a menial impact upon our living standards. I am, however, skeptical of relying upon solar to meet the power needs of America. We could use it to generate small power to feed things like green houses for hydroponic vegetable/fruit production. It's cheaper than you think. But not to power big corporations like a walmart (air conditioning alone must cost immense amounts), and call centers for cellular companies. It's impossible.

That's an absolutely terrific idea. No kidding. I'm being serious here. But, allow me to point out one negative aspect of this building.

Where things are alive, other things tend to live. I grew up in the woodiest area of Whidbey Island, so I know the host of rather... interesting... things that decide to make their home in trees.

As such, I wouldn't want to hang out for too terribly long surrounded by four walls of pleasantness better known as a home to the following conglomerate of intertwined creatures. Growing up in Greenbank on Whidbey Island (middle of the woods) I know that the following organisms live in trees because I have, in fact, experienced all of these at some point in a tree. Usually about 6 inches from my face. Ant swarms, moth swarms, bumble bees/hornets, spider(s)(of the uncofomrtably large variety), caterpillar nests, grubs of unidentified nature, maggots on dead rodents, squirrels nests, possum nests, raccoon sleeping locations, birds of all variety... and many more.
