@DOJ: That was hilarious! Thanks!

I want to see a space shuttle experiment with pigeons; will their homing instinct get them back from space?

Sure what was done to poor kitty wasn't terribly nice, but cruel? Nope. And besides, you have to excuse the people in the video on grounds of ignorance. Judging by the women's hairstyles, this was filmed before the world was blessed by PETA and their mission to make us aware of what horrible beasts we humans are. We now know that animals deserve better treatment than people.

I'm sure you would've seen a similar spread with McDonald's or Starbucks, but no negativity about them. Personally, I avoid Walmart because the people that frequent the place creep me out (the ones in the blue vests more so than the people who shop there), but it's obvious that they're doing something right. The one exception I make is for some OTC meds; their generic 12-hr decongestant is about half the price of other drug stores.

@CheeseDuck: BIOYA. Way to be a jerk. Did nobody else wonder what effects might be produced if the results of this study are correct, or are there too many urbanite readers here? Or should I have prefaced my comment with the stock "Although Neatorama isn't a political site..."? That seems to work for the primary site contributors.

As for your suggestion to take it to the forums, to put it mildly, the forums suck.

This is interesting, especially in light of the results of the last few national elections, with significantly higher percentages of voters in urban areas favoring Democrats.

Um, that's the image the Campaign Obama tried so hard to put in the public mind. Now that the Reality Obama is coming into view, we can clearly see that he's only riding the same tired old jackass we've seen so many, many times before.

"In an effort to ensure this site isn’t biased towards the left..." That was the funniest line I've read today. So a Hillary Firestarter is "tacky", but Sarah Palin TP isn't. So much for your purported unbiased blogging.

I had been just reading the front page on Neatorama, avoiding the comments to avoid the flame wars, but Jill, you're well on your way to screwing up even that.

Wow. As if the EU, Canada, or Mexico could actually annex sections of the US and maintain them. So this guy is a professor? Of what; underwater basket weaving? Somebody wake him up; he's dreaming.

I knew a guy who did this about 30 years ago. He wanted kids without the emotional baggage of the wife-thing. So he made financial arrangements with a co-worker of his who had "desirable genetic traits" (as he put it), made the baby the old-fashioned way, then parted ways after the baby was born. I haven't seen much of him since then, but it seems things went well.

I would think that one concern is that a pedophile would try something like this. Scary to think of what the kid would be in for.
