A physicist illustrated the multiple perspectives of the image. It is a shadow cast on Lake Michigan, the reflection of which was caught by Hersch from his window seat on an airplane. He took the shot with his iPhone. So it is a reflection. Of a shadow.
You're quite welcome, Dave. Your work is popular here! Thanks for the news about your updated version of the book. We heard it here first, readers! Check out Wry Baby
All interesting comments. Thank you all, particularly for the L.A. Times article.
While I will do practically anything to avoid going into a Walmart, I agree that a lot of the "WalHate" is arbitrary and could be appropriately applied elsewhere for the same "violations."
I'll be OK if Rollie's "up to something," but I wish you were around with the mind bleach on hand when the deep fried tarantula was front and center. :)
Aww! I didn't think of that. Probably because I didn't want to. It's just cuter to think he's playing with his toy. But if it's an "amorous" type of play, I'm surprised that the staff member of the animal park who keeps answering commenters' questions on YouTube hasn't labeled the behavior as such.
I understand your uneasy feeling. You have a point. There was a story about a baby in Ohio getting mauled and killed by his relative's dog just a few days ago.
