I thought the study was what the central figure was feeling. In which case, I look at the central figure and disregard the group as a whole, even though I saw them just as quickly as I saw the central figure when I looked the first time. So yeah, I am a typical Western I guess.

When asked "what is the number 2 jersey feeling?" do you honestly take everyone into account? They could be feeling different things. Like, maybe he smells bad in the second picture, and he's oblivious.

As a (Canadian) user of metric, I love being able to use the same systems in my chemistry class as I do in my baking. And Celsius just makes sense. It was based on water changing states!

I do know Fahrenheit though, just because Americans refuse to learn Celsius and it makes a slight language barrier.

I have a classmate who is on a provincial curling team lol! We had to do curling in gym in high school too. It surprises me when people don't know what it is.

I write my notes that I really care about (biology, English) in cursive and notes that are mostly numbers (chemistry, statistics) in a little printing-cursive hybrid. I find that I cannot write in print without it turning almost instantly back into handwriting. When studying, it helps greatly to write in cursive because I have to focus on how each word is formed and end up remembering everything I wrote. This doesn't mean that cursive takes a long time, I practice it constantly and write in it much faster than I can print. It is also much nicer on the eyes.

However, when essay writing I much prefer using a word processor. It is much faster than a pencil and you can make infinite revisions without wasting paper. Of course... it's still much easier to edit printed work on paper than on the computer.

I'm 18 years old and put a lot of conscientious effort into cursive during high school when it was no longer necessary (grades 5-8, if you didn't write cursive, they didn't mark your work). I think it's beautiful and a wonderful art expression and I hope they don't take it out of schools.

My boyfriend (18) seems to use cursive primarily as well, if his grocery lists are any indication.

I love cursive writing and find that I can take notes in it much more neatly and quickly than regular print. However, I am not a common example and while I will certainly miss having it in schools, I will teach my kids the art.

James:
The bird took one hour and 8 minutes (68 min) while the data transfer was 2 hours and about seven minutes (127 min). That is not 25 times faster.

I've worked in fast food for a couple years now and see brats who whine and cry and run around and even *get into the kitchen* (thank god we stopped her before she got anywhere dangerous). Parents need to learn to control their kids and shut them up. If you leave them running around and don't discipline they can get into things that can seriously injure them, and if you leave them crying and calling all the shots you end up with a brat who is going to get hurt (or hurt someone) later on in life.
