@Aaron and GailPink- I'm guessing you're in the minority. It's pretty legendary. We were introduced to the Oregon Trail computer game in Middle School as a learning aid to help us with US history. It's morphed quite a bit since then. I saw (here or on Mental Floss) recently that the game is actually from the 70's.
An expat American living in Eastern Europe here- We live with Gypsies here as well. They do not contribute to the economy or beauty of any place where I've seen them. They harass, heckle, beg and steal. They are dirty- always. And that's not prejudice- that's what they look like, grimy. In Odessa, I saw Gypsy 'houses' (not sure if that's the right word- palace would be more like it- massive and elaborate). I agree with a sentiment expressed above- if they want to integrate, they're going to have to do something for their own cause. I saw Gypsies in Paris- they were a serious detraction. They send their tiny children to beg (where I come from, any parent who sent his 3, 4, 5 year old child out to do stuff like that would be investigated by child protective services). My friend's sisters were visiting her and wouldn't give money to a Gypsy woman who wouldn't leave them alone. Finally, the Gypsy got angry and lifted her skirt and tried to pee on them. An interesting anecdote someone shared about Gypsies- They feel it is their God-given right to beg instead of work (and people are obligated to help them) because a Gypsy stole the nails with which Christ was nailed to the cross, thereby 'easing' his suffering!!
oh my. Do they have a lot of punctured ear drums over there? I was trying to decide whether or not I should make a mad dash for the q-tips and get serious... when I burst out laughing. On the other hand- it seems most dogs know all about it- they love to have their ears totally mauled.
Well that was interesting. I listened but betcha 25 cents I won't remember the next time I need to say UK or Great Britain or whatever. Or maybe I will. I'll try! ;)
:) We did Oregon Trail- an advanced version from the first one but pretty awkward compared to the current one- in the early 80's. I don't think I ever did make it to Oregon then!
Video definitely designed to play on your emotions. I worked at a vet clinic and some dogs would act exactly those 2 when brought in to the clinic. New people, new place, new smells- the dog is not going to just bound out and lick life on the face right away.
according to the link, the fire chief is due in court next month because of this; let's hope the judge has more sense than the police. I sometimes seriously can't believe the junk that happens...
They're closing in on 7000 signatures. Has been an interesting post to follow. Alex, I hope you'll keep us posted about what ultimately happens... As others have mentioned, there doesn't seem to be any doubt that she did something wrong. But- the punishment doesn't at all fit the crime- I mean a felony(?!)- whoa. And the amount of $$ spent by the school to prove it- if I had kids in that district, I'd be more upset about that than about her kids being there.
This makes me sick. They choose to waste money prosecuting her when there are so many serious issues? I'm disgusted. One can hope that the public outcry is strong enough to get something changed for this lady.

Agreed- cats are hilarious!

I suppose you'd think- Well, can't be me so must be someone else...
