Yeah, that site was fake, but no doubt what inspired this person to have one made up.

As for the hello kitty trend - never underestimate the buying power of teenage girls. (particularly Japanese ones)

It bothers me that organizations like that wont put up higher resolution images. There's no copyright on them, and yet they've made it impossible to even examine them in detail let alone use them in any form for projects (personal or otherwise)

I'd really like to know what year he said that. A lot of history happened in his lifetime, over the course of very important stages of a person's maturity development.

I've done some research, but so far no luck. Can't even figure out what book (if any) it came from)

In Toronto, I find the plows don't leave enough of the bike lane intact. This can make things very difficult. Cyclists need to stay as close to the side as possible, and yet avoid that lumpy edge of the snow - once you hit that, you run a huge risk of slipping and falling under someone's (like algonkin) vehicle. Vehicles that seem unwilling for the most part to give extra room to those cyclists.

Of course, one can't fix stupid. There are still just as many dumb cyclists in the winter as there are in the summer.

In terms of tips, I have a beach cruiser I use specifically for winter. The weight and the knobby, square tires grip crappy roads just as well as beaches.

Wonder if that platform can stand kids (and adults) standing or possibly coming down hard on them. Also, manual use is important as someone has already noted.

What about in a crash, will emergency services be able to pry it open? To a degree, they rely on the ability of a car door to be forced open on it's hinges.

Fantastic concept, and I hope it survives the safety tests.

I rather like the elephant picture. I can also see how easy it would be to accept the pieces as "real art" (although how one defines that is a debate for another thread). The kid is using different mediums on one page in some cases. That's unusual for kid drawings. There are other unusual elements too. His own inspiration or coached a bit by artsy parents?

In any case, I'm glad it's still human nature to trust what others say at face value. If nothing else, this debacle is proof there's still hope for us all.

I'm not big on it either, but I'm not a fan of modern architecture - this piece in particular. Still, despite the risk of being blinding on sunny days, I can't help but admire it's complexity. I saw it every day from start to finish and even recently had the opportunity to look at the blue prints. If you couldn't look at it with some amount of respect before, you would after flipping through those prints.

I do wish that the ROM had gone ahead and bit the financial bullet and had it finished properly. The original design called for a lot more glass, and the building is weaker without it.

I don't know about it being an ad for a super hero film, but that video was definitely fake. Obvious fake kicks, obvious fake fending off. The attackers didn't come in with enough speed to have their weight used against them like that. (not to mention they actually took turns instead of swarming like a real fight.)

The slogan has a lot of marketing placement possibilities. It's highly flexible and can be applied in imaginative situations creatively.

It doesn't take an idiot to know how the public would have reacted to this. They would have thought long and hard about the move.

Besides, a slogan is the flag on top of a massive mountain. Sure it's hella important, but there's still an excellent chance that the 125k was still well spent.

Naming your child Muhammad is different from creating an image of him. It's an insult to the faith. I'm astonished she didn't know actually. It's such a basic factoid. Hell, I learned that one as a kid, and I'm just some white Christian girl.

Having said that, naming a teddy Muhammad is really in a grey area in my opinion. A fellow Muslim teacher expressed that she wasn't offended by it. While that's only one person the BBC took comment from, it suggests that it might be a grey area for Muslims too.
