Since we're depleting resources/polluting the oceans at a pace that far exceeds that of what we're doing on land, why would they think that was a viable option?
Good thing Japan has all their other problems (radioactive wasteland, corporate corruption, lack of electrical power, revolving door politicians, lying to the public, tanking economy, women's rights, aging population, racist attitudes, etc) solved so they can tackle these who-gives-a-frack issues. And people think America's government is useless.
"it gives the perception the airport is sitting out there unguarded"
The airport is sitting out there unguarded. TSA seems to only hire people from the Barney Fife school of nonsense. Anyone with a IQ higher then a cow pie can outsmart the TSA. Luckily there hasn't been any terrorist actions to stop - otherwise the security theater would need to get a new venue.
I like to watch fluffy careers, kind of like watching a train wreck, don't want to be there, but find it fascinating to observe from a safe distance.
Pretty much all Science/Engineering jobs want a machine readable resume. If it can't be scanned in and OCR'd your chances of making the first round of cuts is slim and none.
Nice to see Japan is still focusing on the absolutely useless stuff in their Science and Tech Uni's.
Seems like there are several pieces of the puzzle missing.
