5 Movies That Made Big Time Stars Quit Acting

There are plenty of hack directors, harsh filming locations and hokey scripts waiting to push actors over the edge, cheesy cinema that makes them question why they chose a career in show biz.

Sometimes a young star bites off more than they can chew when they agree to be involved in a project, like when a 36 year old Greta Garbo decided to star in Two-Faced Woman, the film she called "my grave".

The cheesy comedy stars Garbo playing a woman who tries to seduce her husband by pretending to be her own twin sister, and needless to say the critics were not kind.

The role left Greta so embarrassed she never made another movie, and when she was given an honorary Oscar fourteen years later she didn't even show up at the ceremony.

Even a movie industry veteran like Gene Hackman can find themselves involved in a project that is so beneath their talent level it pushes them over the edge.

Welcome To Mooseport is a steaming pile of cinema that closed the curtain on Hackman's movie career, a campy comedy starring Ray Romano that Hackman said he starred in "for the money".

The movie was a total flop and closed the curtains on Hackman's movie career, talk about a fall from grace!

Of course, if you're more of a Kevin Kale kinda kid then maybe you shouldn't take advice from a guy with a slice of pizza for a head, because leafy greens are the lame and greasy pizza goodness is far too radical for you.

This Guy Spent $1500 and Six Months to Make a Meh Sandwich

(Video Link)

We've all heard people claim they made something from scratch, but mixing up your own batch of cookie dough with ingredients you bought from the store is a lot different than actually milling your own flour, churning your own butter, etc. We tend to take the accessability of most food items for granted, but what would happen if you really wanted to make something completely from scratch? This YouTuber did just that by making his own sandwich and the result reminds us just how lucky we are to have food readily available at the closest grocery store.

The Imp - Let's Settle That Brains Vs. Brawn Argument Once And For All

The Imp by Inaco

People who judge him by his size are soon shown the error of their ways, and if they both misjudge him and call him an Imp then his vengeance is doubled. Our bodies are more than just a pile of muscles capable of swinging a sword around, and there's a far more important muscle in our skulls that is exercised by reading and studying, both helpful activities when you're trying to outsmart your enemies. If you feel that life is but a game, and the only way to assume the iron throne is with brute force, then you'll probably pay Tyrion Lannister no mind on your way to battle, and that is likely to be the last mistake you'll ever make...

Smarten up your geeky wardrobe with this fantastic The Imp t-shirt by Inaco, it's one design you'll not want to overlook!

Toilet Repair Tips from Obvious Plant

Jeff Wysaski's Obvious Plant series adds helpful hints and reviews to stores, always carefully designed and printed to look like they're real. Most recently, Wysaski switched the toilet troubleshooting guide at a Home Depot hardware store with one that's a bit less practical. Although a toilet may seem complex, basic repairs are not beyond even the untrained homeowner. Just make sure that you get rid of Gary. He will cause nothing but problems.

Jon Hamm of Mad Men Joins the Cast of SpongeBob SquarePants

Actor Jon Hamm is most widely known for playing advertising genius Don Draper on Mad Men. Now he's returning to television in a similar role. Hamm will provide the voice of Don Grouper, an ad executive on SpongeBob SquarePants. The episode featuring him, which will air in 2016, will depict Grouper offering Mr. Krabs advice on how to market his new line of frozen Krabby Patties.

Nickelodeon's concept art suggests that Draper has dropped the Old Fashioned cocktails that he prefers for invigorating coffee.

Football Kicker Scores Point off Referee's Head

(Video Link)

Luis Aranda, a kicker for Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas, scored an incredible field goal against El Dorado High School from El Paso. When Aranda kicked the ball, it was far too low to make it over the crossbar of the goalpost. But the ball bounced off a referee's head, then just barely scraped over the crossbar.

Midland won the game with a final score of 35-16.

Women Have Their Facial "Flaws" Photoshopped and React to the Results

Most women would agree that they are subjected to beauty standards that are, at times, uncomfortably high. Admittedly experiencing that type of discomfort, a few of the female employees at BuzzFeed recently revealed what they believe to be their biggest facial imperfections. When they all had weighed in with their opinions, their headshots were Photoshopped to fix the "flaws" each of them cited.

Upon seeing the resulting images, however, their reactions weren't exactly what they expected. Only three of the subjects are pictured above and below; see all of the participants' before and after shots here.

How French Artists in 1899 Envisioned Life in the Year 2000

In 1899, 1900, 1901 and 1910, French artists Jean-Marc Côté and other of his contemporaries prepared these illustrations of what life in France would be like in the year 2000. Initially they were printed on paper cards placed in cigarette and cigar boxes; later they were used as artwork on post cards. The first series was created exclusively for the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris.

Some of these now whimsical drawings come close to actual inventions that appeared in future years. Others are simply amusing in their fanciful ideas, such as the "whale bus."

Watch an RPG Blast Through 16 Inches of Bulletproof Glass

YouTube Link

Bullet-proof glass, while an amazing, life-saving invention, is no match for a rocket-propelled grenade. As if we needed proof, we see video evidence of that fact in this video from Russian YouTube channel Crash Zone. They set 16 inches of bulletproof glass up against the anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade. Later they do a second test with an added piece of glass. But who cares about the test  it's really all about watching things get blown up, is it not? Via Popular Mechanics

The Voice Activated Corgi

YouTube Link

This older video continues to make the rounds online due to its humorous subject: a discerning little Corgi named Kinney. Kinney likes to give her owner Mark White love, but only under certain circumstances. Specifically, White gets Kinney's attention when he talks like a member of the Beatles. Sure, a number of YouTube commenters have said White's Beatle voice sounds more like Mr. Burns from The Simpsons or Stewie from Family Guy, but that makes no difference to Kinney. When the imitation starts rolling off White's tongue, the dog comes running. No other accent will do. Perhaps she heard that Corgis are the preferred breed of Queen Elizabeth II? Via IAF TV

12 Upcoming Horror Movies to Give You a Fresh Batch of Nightmares

YouTube Link

Horror movie enthusiasts, take note: the linked article lists movies that should be on your radar throughout the remainder of this year. If you're not turned off by gore to the level of Eli Roth (director of Cabin Fever and the Hostel movies), you should check out The Green Inferno, Roth's latest. The film, shot on location in Peru and Chile in what Roth claims is "deeper in the Amazon than anyone who has ever shot a film," is set for wide release today.

Yet if you like your horror without excessive blood and more along the lines of a good ghost story, there are soon to be released films that will suit your tastes as well. Read about 11 more upcoming horror films here.

The Paintings Of Stevan Dohanos Perfectly Capture The Feeling Of Mid-Century Misery

Social realist painter Stevan Dohanos was probably referred to as “Rockwell inspired” more than a few times during his career, but that's partly due to the fact that he also had his artwork featured on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post.

But just because Dohanos didn't become a household name like Rockwell doesn't mean he's wasn't every bit as good as Rockwell, because he was a really good painter.

Of course, you're not trying to knock Dohanos and his paintings down, you hardly know the guy, right?

That's a crying shame, because his paintings perfectly capture scenes of modern cluttered madness, middle class disillusionment and old souls feeling a bit lost in the mid-century world.

Dohanos' paintings are like the cynical antidote to Rockwell's sugar pill, which makes them instantly more relatable and far more visually compelling.
