No mention of martinis? After I moved on from Gin & Squirt, I went with Gin & Vermouth. Then I found it was better if I just waved the vermouth cap over the glass. Today, in homage in Winston Churchill I just pour the gin and bow towards France.
Gordon's London Dry has been the #1 seller in the UK for years. Hendricks has been around awhile; a better "New American" would be The Botanist which is out of Islay, Scotland. Any alcohol from there deserves your attention.
And speaking of Gordon’s London Dry and the medicinal properties of gin: Gin-Soaked RaisinsÂ
io9 makes an error in #2. The Enterprise in The Search for Spock was a refit 1701. The 1701-A appeared at the end of The Voyage Home and was a renamed Constitution-class starship.
Aesthetically speaking, I find the refit 1701 to be the most beautiful, followed by the NX-01.
Wendy had just informed that Jackie Gleason DID star in this movie. No wonder the cover of the soundtrack had a drawing that resembled him. Thanks Wendy!
it did star jackie gleason as a mafia hit man sent to alcatraz to kill a stool pigeon in protective custody. while he is there he accidentally drops acid and it changes his life. then theymake balloons out of bedsheets to escape and find God who is the head of the mafia, groucho marx. but the score by harry nilsson is the best part of the movie.. very creative. look it's madcap silliness of the 60's in the style of it's a mad, mad, mad, mad world. it is cheesy fun... but nothing else... I got a big kick out it. I own a dvd version of it
yeah I saw this in the midnight movies at the valley art theatre in tempe az back in the 70's. it is great fun.the most realistic acid trip ever filmed. lol. and we were on acid when we saw.. long time ago. lol
What continues to gall me is the relentless beer advertising you see now (but it is OK because we say "please drink responsibly" at the end of the ad!). What really pushed me over the edge was when Anheuser Bush threatened to pull advertising if the NFL did not do something about the rampant domestic abuse in the papers all of the time with NFL players. Just go ask any police officer you know just how many empty Budweiser cans they usually see when they go to a domestic abuse call. The hypocrisy is just stunning.
The stores that sold TV's put them in a window so passersby could see them. I remember the first one on our street and they put theirs in a front window. My great grandfather of all people was the first one in my family to get one so he could watch baseball games.
Being a record collector, I remember the soundtrack LP from "Skidoo", but the drawing on the cover looks like it would have starred Jackie Gleason. I think most of the songs were sung by Harry (Everybody's Talkin') Nilsson with the liner notes written by Gary Owens (Laugh-in).
I never did see the movie so reading Eddie's article was very fascinating... especially the "Batman" relation... but I remember hearing people commenting that the movie sucked. I'm kinda curious now about seeing it since Eddie has informed me of who was in the cast.

It works.

Maybe it was made as a "tax write-off" ?
