My daughters loved it, but I couldn't stand that movie. The heroine is the most unlikeable character ever, and the guy is too dumb to see that. I'm sure it caters to a young girl's fantasy that no matter how badly you treat people, you can still find true love. Not a message I want to instill.
I'm seeing a lot of references on the net to the Malachian Prophesies http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes which number all the popes -it says the next one will be the last and will see the destruction of Rome. Some are predicting the next pope could be African (Ghanian, to be exact), American, or Canadian. Watch out if they elect an Italian, as Benedict seems to prefer.
I'm beginning to feel really old, as there is so much mention of John Paul II and how old and decrepit he was -because I remember when he was selected (John Paul I, too, I was in college) and the headlines were all about how young and vigorous John Paul II was.
That last line brings back memories. Probably every bass player in the world has a story about getting a cake, or poster, or toy, or business cards, or something that's supposed to relate to their life but shows a regular guitar because the giver or artist couldn't tell the difference.
It's mighty nice for a restaurant to do something like this. On the other hand, it's sad that good behavior in a restaurant is so uncommon as to stand out from the crowd.
In my youth, the reception was always in the church fellowship hall, so it would be hard to exclude anyone who was at the ceremony. But it also meant that costs were contained and the wedding party was not charged "per person."
