I think I know what you're trying to say, AGFH, but 300 billion people makes no sense when the earth has only 7 billion total now. Maybe you meant 300 million, since the U.S. has about 311 million people now.
But still, you seem to think that if we had universal health care, it would be more expensive per person than it is now under the for-profit companies. How could that be?

Jim, what's he going to do for a living now that newspapers are dying? He'd be a blogger, so he wouldn't have to change in a phone booth!

Or to quote yet another movie, Princess Bride, he is only mostly dead.

It's so wild to think that this craft was launched in the days when computer data was stored on punch cards, Jimmy Carter was in the White House, disco was on the radio, and most of the people reading Neatorama were not yet born. And it is sending back data that we are receiving and interpreting with antique technology kept around specifically because V'Ger uses it.

Edward, I believe that trope has more to do with other films than with real life.

Who made them? Paige Smith. http://acommonname.com/street-art-project/ They are made of paper and wheat paste, and will eventually deteriorate on their own. Why? Because art.

It's all relative. If you follow Martha Payne's blog, you'll see that meals at her school got more generous aver time. And as much as people complain about school lunches, most lunches are better than the beans and cornbread we got over and over at my school. And that was only through 6th grade -after that, we weren't allowed in the cafeteria!
There are lots of school lunch blogs. I once made a post about them. http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/126728

She did have the entire address on it; the dialogue was a lot longer than the excerpt I posted here.

You had soda machines in school in the 1970s? We certainly didn't!
