It's hypothetically possible that a bullet could injure Batman. But no bullet has been brave enough to try. Lucas Nascimento reveals an essential difference between Superman and Batman.
This comic reminds me of a great scene from the recent movie Justice League: War:
Arms Chair can get needy at times. But can't we all? Just sit down and let it wrap it arms around you. Oleksandr Shestakovych, a product designer in Lviv, Ukraine, made this chair that "is always ready to welcome you in its embrace." But will it let you go?
We've previously seen an X-wing built out of beer cans by Hungarian artist Tamas Kanya. This Recyclart post informed me of his driftwood and stone sculptures. But what caught my eye while looking through his gallery was Kanya's large number of cut-up vinyl records. Under his knife, they become vivid scenes from pop culture. You can view more in his online gallery.
Since 1936, the Wienermobile has graced the roadways of the world, advertising Oscar Mayer's meat products and occasionally taking kids to the prom. The first design had a 13-foot hot dog and could be seen on the streets of Chicago.
You have a right to remain silent and probably should, regardless of guilt or innocence. That's often true when encountering both the police and your spouse. You also have the right to a phone call. Choose carefully whom you call.
Thank you for being a friend Traveled down the road and back again Your heart is true you're a pal and a confidant
I'm not ashamed to say I hope it always will stay this way My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow
And if you threw a party Invited everyone you knew You would see, the biggest gift would be from me And the card attached would say, Thank you for being a friend
From 1985 to 1992, millions of people watched four television friends--Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia--share their lives together on The Golden Girls. Here are a few facts that you might not know about the show.
1. NBC chief Brandon Tartikoff first conceived of the idea for the show after watching the 1953 movie How to Marry a Millionaire, starring Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, and Lauren Bacall. He liked the idea of several women sharing an apartment while looking for love. Later, he visited an elderly aunt and watched her banter with a neighbor. The scene stuck with him. Tartikoff decided that the show would have a better chance of connecting with audiences if the women were much older.
2. The first title of the show was Miami Nice, a play on the title of the highly successful cop show Miami Vice. Producers decided that the title might confuse viewers who were looking for Miami Vice and so changed it to The Golden Girls.
3. Initially, the producers planned to have a young, male, gay houseboy as a character. He was named Coco after a dog owned by one of the producers. They cast Charles Levin for that role. Coco appeared in the pilot and audiences liked him, but the producers decided that there were too many characters on the show. So they cut Coco out of the pilot. This helped the directors cut the show from 28 minutes of filming down to the required 23 minutes.
"Practically speaking," I asked my wife, "Couldn't Belle have just knifed the Beast at some point early in her captivity? It seems like she wasn't really looking for opportunities to escape."
She replied, "Disney princesses don't do things like that."
Well, that is true. As a type, they aren't sufficiently cold blooded. But I don't think like a Disney princess and we don't live inside a Disney movie. If we did, the man in this funny BuzzFeed video would seem normal.
In the movie Frozen, Elsa isolates herself from Anna, fearing that she may accidentally kill her little sister. Anna doesn't understand why her loving sister has withdrawn from her life. She invites Elsa to play with her in the song "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?," which is embedded below. It's a hard, tragic scene in the movie.
Similarly heartbreaking is the breakup of the Joker and Harley Quinn from the DC Comics universe. They were a romantic couple, but the Joker couldn't climb out of his own depression enough to keep the relationship going. Harley did her best to encourage him, inviting him to come out of his lair to kill the Batman. YouTube user SydneyAmber sang this pitch-perfect parody of the Frozen song.
How do you like your hot dog? Just mustard, relish and sauerkraut isn't enough. Mirko of the German-language food blog Fat and Tasty built this delicious meal (translation) that almost looks too..., uh, good to eat. He began with a hot dog in a bun, which he then wrapped with sausage. Then he encased it a lattice of bacon, tomato paste, and Gouda cheese. Then Mirko popped it into the oven to produce this almost indescribable dish.
Milo Yiannopoulos (left) is an entrepreneur and the author of the book The Sociopaths of Silicon Valley. For the past 3 years, he has lived what he calls a data-driven social life. Specifically, he maintains a database of 746 friends, family members, and acquaintances. The above image is a screenshot of that database.
The scores are normalised across the whole group. This enables me quickly and easily to drill down and generate lists from which I can craft the perfect party. I can even engineer how the photos will look, since I have a column that covers personal style. Politics is covered by a simple “Pass” or “Fail.” […]
My close friends (Tier A) tend to have high IQs, but their partying, troublemaking, and strategic values don’t follow any patterns. All of which implies that I am attracted to pretty, smart people with sound politics, but I don’t particularly care whether or not they are wealthy or like to party.
Polish artist Igor Morski says that, “My surrealism has appeared a little bit by accident.” It developed gradually over time and some people have difficulty understanding what he’s expressing. That is, in part, because Morski composes art from a particularly Polish perspective. In an interview, he explained that Poles understand brutality:
Another thing is that we Poles have quite specific sense of sensitivity. Wars and many other horrors that have flooded our country have made it acceptable for us a kind of narrative, difficult to accept elsewhere. I realized this when I once took a couple of excellent Polish posters to the Netherlands. For people who viewed them, they were scary. The artist placed, for example, as an allegory, a labyrinth of stairs in the human head, in Poland, people focused on the hidden meaning, the Dutch were drawing attention to the fact of head “mutilation”. They were interpreting this very literally.
When strange visions of other worlds come to Morski, they command his attention:
Work which I need to carry out, is somehow forcing me to a fast reaction. Typically, it lasts 24hours from the moment I get the text to the moment I have to present my work. It’s crazy pace, but the very good trade school. Most of my work was done in a maximum of 8 hours.
Texas was once an independent nation. After the United States initially rejected our generous offer of admission into the union, we considered remaining independent permanently. Many of us considered expanding westward, all the way into what would become California. What would a Greater Texas have looked like then?
I like what Suzann Sanders did with this old fishing rod and reel. She replaced the line with cotton cord and added a few picture frames to create a perfect space in which to share family fishing trip photos. This would be a great use for a treasured fishing pole that is no longer serviceable.
Marc Potter can turn anything into a stringed musical instrument. We’ve already seen his banjo made with a bedpan, which commenter barryNE amusingly suggested could be used to make “chamber music.” Potter has been very productive since then, as you can see from these selections from his Etsy shop. The best of all is this electric guitar made with a C-3PO collectibles case.
