The movie is definitely real. The real trailer uses the same voice and is the same right up to the point where Lou Dobbs is mentioned. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that this version of the video was "real" as well, produced for a specific market.
I, too, remember El Norte from the 1980s. It was a beautiful movie - very moving. I have no doubt that Lou Dobbs missed it.
I hope they go easy on him. He was clearly trying to win the tickets FOR HIS KIDS who may possibly miss out on treats like this because their dad is on welfare.
I'm an IMDB addict as well. If I see a movie that I'm even marginally interested I love to go to IMDB and see where it was filmed, who was in it, what songs were on the soundtrack, etc. The "filming locations" aspect of every listing is like a little gift from the cinema gods.

Unfortunately for me, I am rather fond of New York and I wince whenever I see it taking shots for the team.
Give us a city that we can all agree sucks! I'm thinking New Haven, Connecticut or Central Falls, Rhode Island. Anyone?
My best guess is the wonderful travel-documentary Long Way Round with Ewan MacGregor and his buddy Charley Boorman, but I am far from certain.
Anyone?
Speaking of which, can any non-New Englanders here type out a proper pronunciation guide to the city name "Worcester?"
Come on, ted. Relax.
