The light spectrum from most fluorescents is very poor. Compact fluorescents are even worse. The best I have seen is normally about 82 CFI- and these are expensive special order items intended for video production. There are some expensive tubes for photo and video in the low 90s, like the Kino Flo tubes. Based upon my understanding, its very unlikely that anything less than the very best of these video lights will help seasonal affective disorder.
While hiking the Appalachian Trail I used a garden trowel a few hundred times, no leaves though - just real tp!
Normally, though, for the past ten years we have used a sawdust composting toilet that it quite simple. The bucket, a box with a seat and lid, some sawdust, keep it covered and rotting sawdust works best. Compost in a simple bin layering it with straw or grass clippings. I am inclined to agree with Xopl, if the government can have them then we can too. Very little terrifies me more than knowing my government has this sort of thing, in the past century roughly 150 million people have been killed by their respective governments.
And its been 20 years since I've had a civics class. I am amazed at American ignorance of the basics of our society, and appalled by the reported scores of our elected officials.
Yes, we were lied to by the Republ-ocrats once again. With the fear-mongering whipped up by this nation's corporate media (whose corporate families will certainly be receiving billions)our congress critters rushed headlong into the biggest armed robbery* the world has ever seen. All of that money for nothing other than the pockets of rich gamblers who lost bets, the bill will not stop a single foreclosure. The collapse of the economic system will not and can not be avoided.
* I say "armed robbery" because according to Congressman Brad Sherman, representatives were told that if the bailout did not pass there would be Actual Martial Law in America. This is different from the congressional procedure of martial law which was declared initially to rush through passage. The viable threat of armed force during a robbery is armed robbery.
When they have taken all of our money away, then can we Eat The Rich?
This "bailout" would take $3,500 in money or (overpriced) services from each working American for an unelected official to arbitrarily buy up loans that should never have been made, were often fraudulently made, and are essentially worthless assets of greedy bankers and Wall Street powerwhores. These very same entities insist upon strategies to zero their tax liability, many are overseas, and none of them support "windfall taxes".
If the "bailout" goes forward it will be the single largest act of THEFT from the people of any nation. It socializes risk yet privatizes profit. It will mark the Fall of our Republic and the beginning of a Fascist (merger of corporate and state power) Amerika.
My wife and I once had to push start a diesel bus, along with about 20 other people, on a Green Tortoise trip... crazy stuff, but...
I see no reason fit adults shouldn't be able to push an airplane around... surely these Chinese took care of the situation quicker and cheaper than would have happened at any US airport.
While shooting a 15 year old in the back might be harsh, the man was within his rights in the state of Texas to shoot an intruder. The law presumes that anyone who enters into your dwelling is able and willing to cause you grievous harm and gives the benefit of the doubt to the person defending their property.
Even if the guy SHOULDN'T have shot the kid, that doesn't mean the guy should be locked into a cage for doing so. That erodes one's right to defend their dwelling and property- the next prosecution might be of a 17 year old "kid" coming in through the window... and the next an adult who turns out to be unarmed... then very quickly a man no longer has the right to defend his home. Given what I've heard, I couldn't and wouldn't have shot the kid, but if there were a group of them and they didn't immediately comply with my orders restraining them from potentially harming me (hands in the air, or get on the floor, etc) then I'd feel I had little other choice.
What happened to his right to a speedy trial? I have no problems with drug dealers so long as they've not harmed anyone. His rights have been violated, he should be released and probably compensated for the clear violation of his rights. 2 years? Egad, have we become a third world country? This sort of bs happens places like the Dominican Republic... not the USA.
My wife and I haven't owned a television in over a decade. I understand now, when I see it in a bar or whatnot, why they call it television programming.
How do you want to live your life? What do you want to accomplish? I bet you didn't just say "sit on my butt eating junk food and staring at a stupid show". Stop watching tv 3+ hours a day and you just might get some of whatever you did say done.
I lost any belief in man-made "Global Warming" and the "need" to lower carbon emissions when I learned that Al Gore's gargantuan mansion uses more energy in a DAY than my home does in an entire YEAR.
Now, I am an earth conscious guy, but I do not see how more taxes, nor the money changers at the Carbon Exchange, could possibly help even if global warming was largely man-made.
Its all a scam to separate the poor and middle-class from money that will end up in the pockets of the rich.
