I am glad to see that Holden Caulfield is alive and well.
Jimssss thank you for the links. They have added an interesting perspective to this debate.

The article mentions that some of the other debate club members did not want to be in a photo with him wearing the shirt. I agree with the photoshop idea. He could "magically" be wearing a plain black shirt.
Back when I was in high school, we were not allowed to wear logos of any kind (to avoid fighting).

I think the headline is misleading. "Can You go to Jail For Going to Church?" This, to me, suggests that they were preventing Mr. Reyes from going to church, which they weren't. He was given a court order and he used disobeyed them so he could one-up his wife. That is why he emailed her photos of a baptism that she did not want to have happen and also this. It is like he was given a restraining order not to take his child to a specific location and he not only disobeyed it but invited the media to watch him do it. Both of these people lack common sense. I personally see this as Mr. Reyes being a control freak.

Shannon: You are making atheists look bad. Please stop.

cuimhne and D.D.: you both have my favorite posts so far. Kudos...now if only I can find an anti-stamp collecting cult.

"............Repression of women was (and is… I’m looking at you, moron Arabs) cultural. It was never admirable."
Wow, where are you from? I want to know where in the world women are so free that you feel you can point fingers

I think he uses the term "charm" to refer to keeping with the history of the house. I think he is able to handle it so freely because he is a funeral director.

My cousin was renovating his backyard in Halifax and came across bones. He called the police and the bones turned out to belong to a horse that died during the great Halifax explosion.

I love zombies and would love to see more zombie-related items.
I see zombies as the human embodiment of commodfication whereas a friend of mine sees them as a denial of self-reflexivity.

I agree with "???" for the most part. I am a fourth year Film Studies major and I am used to seeing courses with gimicky names. The titles are there to get attention.
I have taken a science fiction in film course which involved some Star Trek philosophy. I don't think it is pointless or a sign that standards are gone. There is meaning that one can find in media that reflects the society in which they are created and for which they are created.
My question to ??? is why a class should not have films and television programs in it. If it is about the philosophy in popular science fiction television shows than wouldn't you have to have media included?
