Yes Two Dragons, you must be getting old. There is much more to school than “Readin’ Writin’, and ‘Rithmetic". Schools need to start moving forward and changing, we can not continue to teach the same we have for the past 150 years. Times are changing!! Social Justice is a fantastic course,and it teaches skills that many people say that students today don't have. From the BC curriculum these are the general learning outcomes. There is of course a lot more to the course.

-acquire knowledge that allows them to recognize
and understand the causes of injustice
-apply critical thinking and ethical reasoning skills
to a variety of social justice issues
-develop an understanding of what it means to act in
a socially just manner
-become responsible agents of change, making
positive contributions toward a socially just world.

Do you guys even understand what is done to a goose to make foie gras? I can't understand how people are not outraged at the way these animals are tortured so that we can have something to eat. If it was a dog or cat would you feel still think it was okay?

I needed that guy back in May. I had to get rid of my $2000 custom made couch because it would not go through the entrance to my apart because of a two foot length of dropped ceiling at the beginning of the hallway.

Have you ever seen the movie March of the Penguins? The penguins whose babies didn't make it were trying to lure baby penguins from their parent. This often lead to a big fight where all the penguins in the area would try to get the baby back. I'm not surprised the males do it, they take care of the babies just as much as the mothers, so the instinct is strong.

JM4P: It does not matter if they are minority students or not. The point is that they have struggled with school for a variety of reasons and some one came along who decided not to give up on these 'problem' students and taught them something useful. Yes, Sid, multimedia classes are totally useful in high school. Having computer skills is a necessity these days and these kids have just opened up several different job opportunities for themselves.

Miss C, I can't believe there are no Starbucks where you live!! I live in Vancouver and we have Starbucks across the street from each other. You can always find one with less than a 5 minutes walk. Luckily we have lots of local coffee shops around too, they are much better!
