The act itself is cute and innocent. It's a little girl dancing to music.
The distubing part is that someone who KNOWS the content of the song/video she's dancing to (assumption: her parents?) and decides to tape it and put it on youtube. That person would have to be all sorts of nieve to not see the implications of putting such a thing ON THE INTERNET. Its not like it's on VHS for her grandparents to see. "Everybody knows that there are tons of 'bad people' on the internet."
wow, look at all the comments for this! I guess with no more election, the big posts have to go somewhere.
And, from a scientific standpoint, "luck" is really just a collection of TONS of variables that are very difficult or impossible to measure, especially it time for it to effect judgement. Over time, humans have come to think of it as a force or characteristic, but it really isn't. (Note, this is a SECULAR view, so i'm not taking into account religious beliefs or mysticism, etc..)
Someone can be said to be 'lucky' by examining if things have turned out well for them in the past, but it has no baring on their future. Of course, a certain number of people who are thought of as lucky will continue to be so. And a certain number will not. Some will bounce back and forth... At every event that could be 'lucky' or 'unlucky' for any given person, it goes one way or the other. and with 5 billion people with non-infinate lifespans... some people are going to seem like they have a characteristic of luck their whole lives, when in fact they are just an eventuality of probability (granted, an improbable one, but eventual nonetheless).
THAT being said, yes, your attitude can effect a lot of things. Your optimism won't control a plane falling on your house, but it may cause you to try the lottery once in a while. And, well, people do win the lottery, but only those who enter, obviously. :P
a star is really like a (long lasting) perpetual atomic explosion (on a huge scale, of course). So a mini-sun should be like a little nuclear explosion, right? I hope they make sure its short-lived.
speaking of surviving the Hardon Collider, did they actual do collisions? I thought it was postponed because of some helium leak?
Yeah, I think the chiness influence is to pronounee here. WA and OR (and perhaps ID) would be part of the Canadian section - ID might go to Texas republic (along with Utah and Arizona).
California would probably form is own country (like the 'California Free State' from the Shadowrun game). But I can easily see Nevada and California joining together.
This study is a microcosm of something I've always believed: While reality is objective, a person's subjectivity greatly effect their own 'realities'. So, a person expecting crappiness will experience it more often (because they are looking for it and will ignore non-crappiness), even to a subconcious level. And vice-versa.
That being said, it IS difficult to change the way you think and percieve. But if you work at it, you'd be suprised how much happier you end up! :D
"It wouldn’t be hard for me to imagine having some friends over, letting them crash in the guest room and me waking up next to them".
sounds like another case of waking up 'in the closet'. lol .
j/k ;)
I get the impression I'm missing something here.. :P
Granted, the concious mind doesn't retain memories of either activity.
Then again, a lot of these aren't.
