If all those songs use those 4 cords, why does it sound like "Don't stop believing" at first before any lyrics? I wonder if it's the little exra three-notes put in?
The names would have stood out more if they give them a slight black outline around each letter. They still would have looked "WoW Green" but have been legible.
It would have been cool if they added to the prank by having another smaller sign with some number on it, then have them pop upwards from the person after a staged injury, like bumping into something, falling down, or accidentally jostling another 'player' while walking by.
The thing that makes me want to claim photoshoppery is not that this coudldn't really happy, but the 'look' of the text, compared to the "Happy Bitrthday to Else / Aunt Elsa".
The text of the code looks flat and crisp, and the top 'greeting' looks like it has more depth and lower resoultion. In my opinion, anyhow.

I think the posters have been posting about what going on in the world. For example, posts about the election before, and now Obama because it's inauguration month.
That being said.... I do prefer neatorama posts about wacky, fun, silly stuff, and not stuff about the news (whether politics, disaters, etc). There's so many other sites that do that. It's my opinion that neatorama would stay truer to itself to eschew such posts and stick to the mostly "neat".
And cat videos fall into that category! (but so do many other things. :P)
I'd say, it depends on the dead person. I think doing something to honor their memory is a good thing, and if 'grandma' was the kind of person who would find this hilarious, or come up with it herself, then it's cool.
