Well, see; You turn the handle up there and it turns this handle here, and the other handle, uh... No, that's the one you hold there and it... Wait, give me a hand here. You hold that while I... Hey, what's that adjusting thing there? Go ahead and try it... Doh! Now you've messed it up, see? It'll never work now!

The government mandates a safety device that will injure us? What a surprise! If we must change hand position to avoid injury, then we should also drive with our heads outside the window. I've seen a car in which the passenger airbag inflated big enough to knock the mirror off the windshield, hitting the driver in the head, and sending her to the hospital. She had run into a curb. :(

So, how many sodium azide bags per vehicle does that make now? (You didn't really think they were inflated with air, did you?) And now we get a thousand dollar repair bill if somebody's garbage can blows out into the street in front of us. NO THANKS!

Doing the small thing is fine IF you don't lose sight of the big picture. Example: Environmental groups oppose drilling for oil in Alaska fearing damage to the wildlife. The big picture is that demand for oil keeps increasing. It has to come from somewhere. Wells are drilled in other countries or oceans where the EPA and other regulators don't have control. Thus bigger damage is done worldwide to protect one small and well regulated area. They would do better to encourage Alaskan oil and seek ways to diminish demand.
