linty: It is indeed just battered and fried. Chicken doesn't have anything to do with this recipe - "Chicken fried" refers to the Southern process of battering chicken for deep frying. Think KFC. The process itself is pretty simple: dip the meat (chicken, steak, bacon) into flour, run through mixed eggs (white & yolk), drop into your batter, and then fry. Chicken fried bacame a term after people fried steak using the same recipe, and now it is the generic term for the process. There are probably a thousand variants for chicken-fried anything, but that's the recipe from Kirbyville, Texas.

It is a roly poly (I'm a zoologist, so dare not question my 1/2 second off the cuff answer...). My girlfriend bought me one last year, and when we visited IKEA last weekend, there was a whole bin of them on sale. I guess not everyone likes the cute little things. Those butt-ugly beavers were in an adjacent bin, on major markdown as well. Well-deserved; they are really ugly.

It's weird; Court & Miller isn't a known ho zone; that'd be Dort Highway. Maybe the sign is working? God, I love living in Flint, where the weak are killed and eaten.

I prefer a cat making important decisions more than Ronald Reagan's astrologer. "Hmmm. Venus is in ascension, so you should keep that finger close to the button." I think kitty's greatest danger to Japan is cat dander allergies, although I hear lint roller sales are through the roof.

What's not to like about astrology & horoscopes? There are 12 signs, so divide the population of the world (~6 billion) and so 500 million people are going to have pretty much the same day as you.

And don't forget the shattering accuracy of prognosticators in general; that full-on warning of 9-11 that allowed us to avoid so much trouble and save so many lives. Sarcasm aside, surely if any fortune telling worked, that day would have stood out to someone?
