Excellent article. A short, numbered list that is always relevant. But Aristotle should have included two more points for Americans:7) There is no need to include the word 'like' in every sentence. For example, a hammer is not like a tool. A hammer IS a tool.8) Stop mentioning Anne Dumb at the start of your sentences. I don't know who this Anne Dumb character is, but I keep hearing her name popping up in student speeches and NPR interviews.

Colin, There's no shame in being sceptical and in wanting to learn how stuff works. Perhaps one flaw in radio-carbon dating is the assumption that the current rate of decay (which has only been known about and measured for a very short period of history) has always been that rate. Was the decay rate faster or slower in the past? Or was it always the same as it is now? Also, we know that modern nuclear weapons have changed the amount of carbon-14. Was there ever another nuclear event in the past that also changed the amount? A big radioactive meteorite, for instance?

Good! Too many selfish people out there are cheating the system and ruin it for the few people who really do need a service dog to get by. Walking through an American airport these days is like going to a dog park.
