Argh stop referring to 1983 as though it was concurrent with the Roman Invasion! I already feel old!

14 in 1983 here though I was stuck with a Dragon 32 (which I still have).

There are so many random pitfalls in applying for a job then why not try to stand out. All these "no no's" and faux pas #1 things are twaddle.

Employers want to rake people over the coals like "The Apprentice". All they need to know is "is this person stupid or not" and "can they hold down a job".

Then they start with the fifteen interviews, roleplays, question and answer sessions, screenings, another fifteen interviews, final interview, seance and tribal dance followed by a full dna scan and biometric analysis. If you pass all that they have the pleasure of informing you you almost made the final cut - try again next time.

Employers are the most evil people in the world :(

I'd love to be a bus driver and have the power to go up to someone loudly on the cellphone (mobile over here) and say

"Get off the f**king phone, get off the f**king bus and get out of everyone's f**cking hair"

After being subject day after day to loud people yelling and swearing their heads off to whoever is on the other end of the phone oh and everyone else on the bus because we really all wanted to hear.

Japan has it right - no mobile phones on public transport. Done deal.

Imaging artifact. Resolution is far too low for anything meaningful to be gleaned.

What I like is they guy doing the narration doesnt sound like one of these nutjobs out there. He sounds reasonable like he wouldnt object to a more mundane explanation.

Anyone checked MGS data?

The biggest problem with employment is the bloody employers.

I've been subjected to three hour telephone shotgun interviews, four interviews (my travelling expense) just to get shortlisted for a fifth interview - for an office tea makers job, interviews just to make up the numbers, employers looking at their watch in the middle of an interview, yawning in an interview...

I honestly think the employers need to have reality bashed into their thick heads.

Who is to say aliens aren't already here? If the reasonable idea of a "prime directive" that exists in Star Trek also exists in some form in the space diaspora then contact will only happen when we have "made the grade".

Hopefully that will happen before nanotech weapons arrive because that really will be the end of the world. Nuclear weapons will be paintball guns in comparison.
