solicit: v.tr. to petition persistently

if that isn't telemarketing to a t, i'm a monkey's uncle.

the juxtaposition of the two signs is clearly ironic.

Who knew so many old people read this blog?

As someone who was born this side of the Vietnam War, I assure you:

This stunt has not taught the kid anything. How about some actual parenting, instead of crazy over-reaction-ing?

If my mother had done that, I would still resent her.

There is absolutely no evidence that he was drinking and driving; maybe he just knew his mom always searched his room.

Raise your hand if you waited until you were 21 to drink.

Hypocrites.

Re Hollywood and Alex:

Lucky for you, you two seem to have been blessed to not have any vices, addictions, diseases or whatnot.

My dad has recently undergone gastric bypass; he was not quite so obese, only around 300+, but even still he has already lost more than 50 pounds and is on the road to good health. If not for this surgery, I could be sure to have lost my dad in the coming few years. Thank god that doctors and scientists out there care about humanity and understand that the human condition is not always so cut and dry.

For the record, it is a fact that some people just get fatter than others, no matter what they eat.

@ ruby

We don't hate god. We hate people who make decisions -- important, world-affecting decisions -- based on their beliefs in god. We hate how wars are waged in gods name. And we hate how we will never ever understand how so many people are so deluded that they care more about an imaginary being than the other people living -- and suffering -- around them.

Amen.

re dan:

Who says you can't be mad if you knowingly break a law and are then punished for it? I'm sure I'm not the first to be upset at government sanctions based on laws I had no hand in approving. I guess you are Mr. Never Breaks The Law, but most of us are not. And when we are forced to suffer because we are taxed by the Big Man for crimes we feel are unjust and just unnecessary, well, what is there NOT to be mad about?? I don't think any amount of petitioning and political action would ever change (in my favor) the traffic laws. Does that mean I need to get out of the country or just STFU? No, I don't think so. I'll bet you're a cop...

re ted:

Not all people agree that all laws are just. Therefore, when one harmlessly rolls through a stop sign and has to pay the govt hard-earned cash, one can be a little bitter. I hate assholes like you who think that all laws must be followed to the letter; the law is not god's word; it is man's word, and we all know about man...
