Standard issue Freedom Fries need to be fried twice too, otherwise they're just too bland. A cooler fry to cook the insides and a hotter fry to unleash Malliard.

Do fireflies really blink with no warmup or cooldown? Unless those fireflies are fitted with LEDs chances are good it is multiple exposures composited together rather than one long exposure.

I have a feeling the torch is artistic liberty -- a torch destroys night vision, indicates presence, and represents a fire danger on a wooden ship that probably used turpentine soaked jute or hemp ropes as chinking.

Still, neat idea to replace the old cartoon with something better.

Man, golfing, bowling, listening to music, health care, retirement stipends, it sounds like a lovely place to live. Pity they aren't looking for foreigners to be teachers, I can spot software security flaws from one furlong, but I guess they're covered.

If you look carefully you can see the Cisco logo on the side of the jaws: this was their very first "router" ever sold. You could route your telegraph wires through the jaws, turn 90 degrees up, cross the road at a convenient point, then route the wires back down the other side, all without crossing wires. Cisco still makes routers today but they aren't cast out of iron any more. They just don't build them to last like they used to...

If selected, a donation to your local humane society would be superb. :)

I tried 28 hour days in college. 168 hours per week is six even days of 28 hours and if you line up your courses just right you can get 20 hours of work done, eight hours of sleep, and be back at the beginning again on Monday. The first few days were hard, the next two weeks were great -- all kinds of time for homework over nights when everyone else was asleep. Three weeks in my roommate and I slept for 18 hours straight and learned that some things are not meant to be trifled with, and eight hours of sleep to twenty hours awake was not the right ratio. Also, going to sleep at four pm sucks.

Wow, 240 degrees is going to make it awfully thick... Will it really blend with the soda later? Seems worth a shot if only I had a bottle of scotch.

The conspiracy theory / legend I heard was that New Coke was an intentional transition point -- Coke before then was made with sugar and Coke after then was made with corn syrup -- and they knew the transition would be rough, so they introduced something vastly different so people would just be happy to have their drink back a few months later, when they couldn't easily compare the variants with sugar vs corn syrup.
