Just for some perspective, the President of the United States in 1909 weighed over 300 pounds. (William H. Taft)

I don't think this guy was probably as "freakish" we might think.

I'm NOT defending these guys, but my guess is that most people when they fly into a foreign country need transportation, so they get a rental car. If that car is driven by a paid driver, it's called a Limousine. Now, yes, these foreign leaders and their large staffs perhaps could take public transportation, or find some kind of alternate travel, but I doubt these guys are all driving around Copenhagen in stretch Limos. If they actually are doing this, then yes, they are hypocritical jerks.

Again, I'm not defending these guys, but I think it might be a little more complicated than how this story portrays it. If you were in North or South America, and had to go to Copenhagen with a large group, how would YOU handle it?

Perhaps in the future these types of meetings could be done over video conferencing?

I trust Jon Stewart more than any other news anchor too.

The networks don't understand why people trust Stewart though, and will make some dumb ratings-based suggestion that maybe if they add humor to their broadcasts, they will be considered more trustworthy (just like Jon)!

Of course, that's why network news fails. His cable comedy show does a better job of holding politicians feet to the fire than news organizations that supposedly have entire departments dedicated to doing actual reporting! People want someone to call "BS" on political figures who say one thing and then say the exact opposite a year later. Sure, Stewart makes some very inappropriate jokes, but there's actual news in there that you won't get from CNN or the other "trusted news sources".

Especially in light of the death of Walter Cronkite, I hope that TV news takes a hard look at themselves and thinks about what news was meant to be - a service for the PUBLIC GOOD - and not 20 minutes of filler between ads for Viagra, Prilosec, Detrol, and Ensure.

A school that can't afford to print tests?

What kind of a budget does this school have?
What is wrong with the parents if they won't pay to fund basic printed materials for schools?

The original story says that it costs him 3¢ per copy. The school can't work out a deal or find a place that would print them cheaper? Could they not get their own copying machine?

Our country's priorities are completely screwed up.

The last thing a teacher needs to do is spend time figuring out ways on how to keep his/her corporate sponsors happy, or how to bring in more revenue. They should spend their time TEACHING KIDS.

It would probably also help if the teachers got more help from the parents, too.

How did CBS end up with these shows?

Star Trek was originally on NBC, right?

MacGyver was on ABC.

Melrose Place ran on Fox.

Yet, they are all now on CBS's website?

Strange.

It was nice of the idiots at the local news station to turn this girl's story into a promo device for one of NBC's entertainment shows...

Very Classy.
I'm sure Edward R. Murrow would be proud.

It's this simple:

People are tired of crappy service from faceless corporations.

That's it. Whether the guy answering the phone is in India or Indiana. Many giant corporations create products that have built-in obsolescence or are poorly made to boost profits and keep stock holders happy and don't really care about customers or employees.

Americans hate this - and then when they call a help line, they end up talking to someone that usually has no idea how to help them because the company is too cheap to fix the issue or they give you the run around hoping you will give up (the credit card industry does this). It just makes people even more angry when that call worker is foreign and has been specifically hired to reduce costs and put more Americans out of work.

Add to this the fact that these upper management people who make the terrible decisions and green-light sub-par products are insulated so they never have to listen to complaints - they make people in foreign call centers do it for pennies.

Isn't it true that if you fall for a certain amount of time (like falling from the Empire State Building) you will either lose consciousness or actually die before you hit the ground?

How far can a person free-fall safely?

Or, am I wrong?

The books don't necessarily represent Kansas City - some books are examples of books that Kansas Citians enjoyed reading.

I have a few more views of this parking garage on my flickr account:
