Dan 4's Comments

I hate to get all animal rights-y, but octopuses are very intelligent creatures.

I'm NOT criticizing the poster or readers of this blog, but I'd like to imagine how you would feel if the animal in that picture were a live dog.

Pretty sickening, huh?

I made this a few years ago.

Since somebody beat me to the location, I'll post a link to a more specific spot.

I've seen him there a number of times, right by the crazy opera lady with a tambourine. When's somebody going to put HER on YouTube?

I'm with you ted. I've got very mixed feelings about seeing animals in captivity.
Watching Hawaiian spinner dolphins cavorting off the coast of Kauai was one of the most profound experiences of my life...but I still didn't get to see what they were up to underwater.

There is a Lost, Office connection. In the first season episode where we follow Charlie and his efforts to go straight by working for his girlfriend's dad at a copier company, she makes a reference to her father going to Slough to look at a paper company.
I haven't seen but bits and pieces of the American series. I've watched all of the British series. It almost always made me squirm rather than laugh. The Christmas special, however, made every second worth it.

Any body remember when it was Vin Diesel facts?
Chuck Norris is funnier because he's less talented.
This ad is a great example of what can go wrong when people with irony deficiency get the mitts on something popular.

When you're new, keep your mouth shut when people talk gossip. It's hard to tell who is friends with who, and you don't want to alienate the wrong person.
Also, don't talk gossip to the new person. You never know where his/her loyalties will end up.

What Desmondus said.
When you tell a joke, do you say "Okay, this didn't really happen, but one day a guy walks into a bar with a duck..."?
I didn't think so.

I like looking at these pictures because when I was younger I had a fascination with ghosts. Now I know they're more psychology than parapsychology, more folklore than science.

Really, what's more likely
1. The people who took these picture weren't entirely honest or the images were some kind of artifact on the film.
2. There is some kind of force out there that can not be explained or measured scientifically.

But yeah, they're still creepy.

Yeah, it did have the taint of the BWP about it and I was a little disappointed at the anti climactic ending. 12 hours in the catacombs and they didn't produce a whole lot of footage from down there.

Anybody else thing the narrator sounded like Sarah "Violet from the Incredibles" Vowell?

I grew up where Gordon is and have spent a fair amount of time there since my parents still live there. I agree, the smoke isn't as bad despite the fact that more has been burned.
Last time (2003) after the march to the sea the fire turned around and burned some of my favorite back country areas. I hope this one won't/hasn't done the same.
