I am not exactly sure what your point is. This woman is free to do whatever she wishes with her body. But she cannot become male by changing the way she looks and taking hormones. That is the truth that is not generally acknowledged. It wouldn't be the first time that a significant portion of the medical/scientific community is wrong.

It's interesting how people will pick and choose which mental disorders need to be treated and which need to be indulged. When a female thinks she is male, they say we should make her look like a male. Same deal with homosexuality.

However, when people have something like schizophrenia we need to treat it. How can you say that someone with split personalities wasn't supposed to be born with 2 bodies? Maybe we should graft another head on to them.

But if true, anyone who thinks this person is a man is kidding themselves. You can belittle those of us who see it otherwise as "small-minded," but it's still ridiculous. Ignoring any moral judgements, there is no logical way someone could conclude that this person is male.

At least there are still some people with a little sanity about these kinds of things.

Why shouldn't I be allowed to protect my property or my family during a threat? I don't own a gun, but I strongly support the right of anyone to have a weapon for protection. More often than not, the police don't come in time. They shouldn't be expected to. Will one of you gun haters please provide one reason why an American should be forced to give up his right to defend his stuff or his family?

Apparently this person satisfies some of you by simply declaring that he is a woman. Or are there other requirements? Do you have to dress like a woman, wear make-up, have plastic surgery, have hormone therapy? No, he only has to "identify" as a woman.

If a man thinks he is a woman, he probably needs psychiatric help, not surgery. We wouldn't have this argument if the guy thought he was Santa Claus; why does it apply when he thinks he's female? He can put on a red suit, implant rosy cheeks, and take hormones to make him "jolly", but he ain't Santa, and he ain't a girl. Now I will wait to be called a hateful bigot.

Ugh. When will people realize that you can't actually make someone a woman just by changing the way they look?

John G, thank you for an intelligent post that gets to the root of the matter. Those of us who don't accept the recent notions of homosexuality as "normal" are frequently characterized as brutish troglodytes.

Ignoring any moral or religious convictions, there are plenty of reasons to treat homosexuality as it really is: a sexual disorder. For instance, a homosexual male should not be in potentially compromising situations with young boys for the same reason a male should not be in those situations with girls. Common sense ideas like this are treated as bigotry (largely by those on the political far left).

People would be far better off if we try to adapt their problems to the world, rather than trying to adapt the world to their problems.

Lighten up, people.

Hmmm, the city wants all its citizens to make do with less in order to save on water. Why not apply the same concept to the government with money?

This is kind of what the ID crowd mean when they say that things have the appearance of design. You have to make a lot of effort and stretching to explain how the ants would have evolved the ability to make that (much less how they evolved at all)

It's much simpler (and arguably at least as equally plausible) to state that they were created with innate knowledge or instinct to build their elaborate and functional homes.

If this guy is really into eating people, then feeding him salads is more likely to make him crave meat than calm him.

I can't believe people are still whining about losing elections 4 and 8 years ago. Bush won fairly both times, no matter what you want to believe.

Do you really think that only half of the politicians would try to do anything they could to win elections. I'd be willing to bet there are quite a few from both sides. I doubt we'll ever hear about most of the unscrupulous activities.
