*Big brother* is often used as a metonymy for government, so cool yer jets, cadets! Anyway, I thought it was interesting to see the ratios of junk to functional equipment.

I suspect Harrison would reel in horror at this ugly beast. It lacks the sublime harmony of motion seen in his fine clockwork, makes discordant noises (the H-1 fairly whispers as the pallets caress the escapement), and the chronophage looks like it dropped out of a bad sci-fi movie. Time does not jerk about, it flows like water, and is ephemeral like dreams.

Sure would love to have the maintenance contract on it though!

When a bank closes, a formal public disclosure is made with regards to the disposition of deposits... see the link mu provided above and click on any of the banks listed. These disclosures contain standardized verbiage, and apropos to this thread in particular, each disclosure contains the following paragraph:

"Principal and interest on insured accounts, through , are fully insured by the FDIC, up to the insurance limit of $100,000. You will receive full payment for your insured account. Certain entitlements and different types of accounts may be insured for more than the $100,000 limit. IRA funds are insured separately from other types of accounts, up to a $250,000 limit."

Creating a sense of panic only exacerbates the problem (looking at you, WallStreetBanker). Of course, if you base critical financial decisions on casual blog posts, you are probably already in trouble.

Oh man, that looks like so much fun!! As for danger, this is way less dangerous than water skiing at 20-30MPH (which isn't really dangerous, and is also a whole lot of fun).

The exquisite use of 45 degree angles for the frame joints reveals a sensitivity to aesthetic presentation that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Very nice and wonderfully creative. I especially like the "solid" appearance of the tracery in the image posted here (and in a few of the others on the artists' site).

The story isn't about how he is not learning to play guitar, so why even bring it up? And by the way, those skills you have deemed as being so silly are earning some people a LOT of money... $100K+ a year and more for the best gamers. Perhaps some of that guitar-beauty you speak of needs to rub off on yer hasty-judgment mechanism.

A couple more:

"Costing an arm and a leg" apparently refers to pre-photographic portraiture. Each additional limb that was to appear in the painting of the individual(s) would add to the cost of the painting.

"Balls to the wall" supposedly refers to pushing the throttle levers of an airplane (which are topped by ball-shaped handles)fully forwards (against the wall of instruments and controls), which is the max power position.
