His descent into madness?

After reading a few of his posts I must say that he's not just writing stupid nonsense but manages to keep it quite interesting. At least if you're into this movie and into cooking. So kudos to him if he keeps that up. :)

I still don't see the need to watch the movie every day and neither do I believe he will keep doing that. I suspect pretty soon his DVD will tragically "break". ;)

@Ted

Most of the money spent on most of the gadgets that you own was spent on "hooha". It's called marketing.

Although marketing makes us want things that we don't really need or would have wanted in the first place, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with paying what it is worth to you rather than the absolute minimum it could have sold for.

As mentioned in the comments to the original article; this study is pretty worthless.
Two quotes from the original article:

1) "we had neither the time nor the budget to make the hundreds of trips necessary for statistical significance"

2) "I was surprised to learn that, although the USPS uses its own sorting and delivery systems, Express Mail flies via FedEx. So our package experienced both the most and the least abuse while on the same airline."

I'm thinking they let him win to get some good publicity.

(Presumably the casinos should not be able to cheat like that, but a lot of things are not what they presumably should be. And I don't trust casinos. ;))

Clearly we won't be needing blade runners anytime soon.

"placed in hospitals as an observer"

That's a joke right? Weird Japanese humor maybe?
I wouldn't want to wake up from a hospital bed and see something like that staring at me! What are they trying to to? Scare their patients to death?

How to build a car from scrap metal.

1) Find scrap metal.

2) Clean scrap metal.

3) Dry scrap metal.

4) Sort scrap metal.

5) Build car.

6) Profit!

It's easy.

Seriously: it looks nice and all, but it's not carving; it's painting.

"Police would eventually find their man, Brian Alexik, hiding out in his girlfriend’s apartment less than a mile from where he fled."

Clearly a criminal mastermind at work.

"Perhaps it's all part of his master plan."

Yeah, he'll be using those 15 years in prison he already knows will be next to a bank to dig a tunnel from his cell to the vault and make off with a fortune. Check his tattoos!

@ bobster

I have noticed also that they like the pseudo-science fluff. Sure, it makes for great headlines, but I expect better from Neatorama. Maybe I should revise my expectations?

That Newsweek blog post is just retelling the MetaFilter thread. That thread is all we have to go on.

Interesting to note that they are now taking PayPal donations.

I'm willing to believe this is true, but this could just as well be all fake.
