lol, nice Achoo.

I sneeze in bright sun, but it's not a constant thing. In sunlight I always *want* to sneeze when I first see it, but unless I'm looking directly at the sun, I rarely do.

Yeah. No child in my household gets to play scrabble like that. If they can't win by using words like zymurgy and exeat, they should LEARN those words! Bloody fools...I don't care if it's some new version or whatever, it's still idiotic...

vonskippy, you don't exactly need fancy science to treat food allergies, or even detect them a lot of the time. If they're a more common allergy (nuts, milk, gluten) you don't even need science to "detect" them. If you cut one of those things out of your diet and feel better, it's pretty certain that that food is causing your issues...

That said, a lot of people with regular lactose intolerance (about half of all Caucasians [factoring in backgrounds that have a higher percentage like Italy and Greece] and over 75% of the other adults in the world) confuse it with a lactose allergy and shouldn't get all freaked out like they do. I have severe intolerance, and all I have to do is avoid unprocessed and lightly processed milk, and I can get along fine.

Actually, I guess if you're talking about ANYTHING intellectual, I already have a triskele from Newgrange on my wrist. But as I'm a scientist and not an anthropologist, it's more to show pride in my heritage than an intellectual thing.

DNA helices are getting a little too common for my tastes these days, but they are a beautiful wrap-around tattoo for the arm/leg. I would love to get either a modern cladogram (they're cool and circular now, though I wouldn't be able to get ALL the branches), or a tree of life, with DNA at its roots

Hehe, cute eagle. It's awesome how much of a comeback they've made...I live just off a major feeder river that goes into the Mississippi, but is still shallow enough to have lots of fish, so I see bald eagles on the edge of town every so often.

The most awesome thing I've seen recently was one landing in the highway divider right ahead of me (so I got to watch it for a bit) where a freshly dead deer was laying this winter. It was huge and ripped flesh and muscle right off the deer...I know they're good fishers, but I didn't realize they had such raw power!

The comments on that post are truly horrific...from accusations of this being a marketing ploy between him and Benjamin Creme, to people screaming that he's the anti-Christ! People these days...just leave the guy alone! His books seem good enough (haven't read an entire one yet), and he seems sane enough, so I'm going to definitely give him the benefit of the doubt on this...

I don't know, as an avid biologist, I would find a lot of these fascinating...even things like dung curator or undersea "snot" collector. That feces piper job seemed sketchy and sort of creepy, though. Yeah. Wouldn't do that one.

Too bad he's got a bad case of male But'er Face. And a very rude egotism that even Russia cant contain. But hey, paper bags and duct tape over the mouth do wonders!

Heh heh heh, I heard about this on "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" a few weeks back. It's a serious invention, MikeG, made for easily frightened women (the inventor invented it for herself first). The Japanese are just weird.
