Forgot to mention: Fans of Carl Zimmer (science writer) or Red Green of The Red Green Show fame will both enjoy their facebook pages. Both update regularly, and Red Green has some awesome funny statuses.
I recall the first partial face-transplant a while back where the woman was chain smoking through her interviews IN a hospital! And I don't remember why she needed the transplant, but I think it had something to do with smoking in the first place.
Ummm...hasn't it ALWAYS been the case that work you miss in school has to be made up, no matter how valid the reason? And I'm pretty sure I was always marked absent on the years that I actually participated in this. Also: other kids feeling left out? Please. I never had more than 4 or 5 of my peers in classes of over 20 gone, so it's hardly being left out.
From what I've heard from others and read in bs bulletins trying to get more people to do this, my generation (growing up in the 90s) never had a more than 1/3 participation rate.
I wonder if a Scottish Wildcat/domestic cat cross was the insane/huge/violent cat that Georgia owned (and found in the Scottish countryside) in the Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging series.
What does it count as if we went to the same school (but never met on our own), got introduced by a mutual friend (but didn't see each other in person again for over a year), and got to know each other online in the intervening year?
Cool baby shower idea. Never could get behind those weird 4-d sonograms. The babies all look like aliens to me. At least this one is mostly human looking.
Though I do have to wonder why the cat wasn't immediately checked for a microchip...even the local rescues with only a few animals take them immediately to a vet that scans them.
Cat probably hid in a suitcase or a handbag and escaped before being noticed. Even my large lump of a cat can get himself so well-hidden that We cant find him in our two-room apartment.
More related to the story: it was oddly moving for me. And why I'm a fan of my kitty's microchip.
Even if this is a real thing, it's still stupid. If they OD on the street, they're dead and not causing more problems...I don't advocate people's deaths, but if they kill themselves with drugs, they obviously weren't the cream of the crop to begin with.
By the way, great topic to put a post up about. These places are really needed (especially by hospitals and ERs!) and don't get nearly the recognition they deserve.
One of the first *DUH* fan groups was "not being on fire", which was put up the same day fan pages were. It's still one of my favorites.
