CE, this is quite different that a blind person driving. How would it be dangerous for this man to cash a check? Shouldn't he be able to live an independent life? Besides, this is just BOA policy, not a law. They should have allowed him to offer another ID or print. Perhaps a toe print.
I live in Plano. It's actually a great place to live. If I were to have children, I would be happy to raise them here. There are great schools, safe neighborhoods, loads of recreational fields and activities. It's a genuinely nice place.
Gauldar is right. It's so odd that people would want to live their lives according to some silly faith. How backwards is that?! That would be as weird as a bunch of people assembling in one particular place, on one particular day, to talk to an invisible man. I'm so glad we've evolved past that here in the sensible, secular west.
I was thinking this would be a fun toy for a child playing make believe. If there can be plastic food, why not felt food. The kid could pretend-make a sandwich right along side mom. Or they could learn how to put their own lunch together. Seems like it could be fun .. and washable.

Well, there is the fact that as a human race, we still see childbirth and mothering as a virtue. In the book, it was a reviled behavior. Yes, everyone seems to have their own version of soma, but I think that's just human nature .. if it weren't anti-depressants, it would be alcohol. Also, most of are still in committed, monogamous relationships. Yes, people screw around, but not because it's a virture, just because some people lack impulse control.
Yes, we do sort of worship Ford, or T, or technology. Yes, we have birth control .. but it's a good thing to be able to control the size of one's family based on one's means.
And .. I'm sorta running out of steam here, but you get the idea.
