Well, before we were 'so civilized', the albinos didn't probably survive long either. They're easier to spot as prey and the herd doesn't tolerate such deviation - I have the impression that such mutants very often get killed or rejected by their kin. What makes me sad is that the latter often applies to humans as well, even now in the 21st century.
That's the one thing that really bothers me about non-smokers. Some of them have this notion of being somehow above and enlightened in comparison to smokers and grabbing every oppurtunity to project this perceived supremacy upon those who smoke (I'm referring to this "I couldn’t care less about them killing themselves" rhetoric which bothers me even though (perhaps especially because) not being a nicotine addict I nevertheless enjoy tobacco in various forms recreationally. As do lots of people.)
Yup, we had crazy storms in this part of the world in January 2005. I think a large part of Northern Europe was affected, not only Sweden - an area not generally associated with hurricanes annihilating anything in their path. I guess that's global warming for you.
Oh come on. Nuclear (fission) power is certainly a better source of energy than burning oil or coal until we have cheap, clean and practically infinite fusion power. The only problem is making it safe enough, and of course, Russia doesn't have a good record at that.
Yeah, reminds me how, when I was a wee teenager, dried the stuff on the inside of banana peels and tried to smoke it. You know teens, always trying to get high off whatever they can lay their hands on. Needless to say, I was a victim of the Mellow Yellow myth.
