Symeon, it's funny that you get huffy about the ALA supposedly trying to preempt librarians' authority about what books they shelve, but not the presumptuousness of these "moral guardians" who try to control what their community can obtain from the library.
Librarians have a duty to make information and resources available without judgment or bias.
---
Also, isn't it funny how many book challenges come from people who never actually read the book they're condemning? It's a well-established pattern.

No one she should the image to came up with "moth"? Or she didn't consider moth to be as plausible as a fairy? Ah, people...

What the heck is the image they ran with that article supposed to be indicating?
Interestingly about #13, Memory... written word was looked down upon by ancient Greek orators.

I love that the detail that draws my eye the most is the "Scoop Away" kitty litter bucket. Ahh...

Mmm, tasty-looking ingredients. I just moved and don't have my pots and pans up here yet. Dishwasher salmon sounds possibly worth it.

"Free speech jerk off, it’s what makes Neatorama neat."
I thought it was all the interesting links that made Neatorama neat. =p
Also, you have no understanding of the concept of free speech. For starters, that clause only protects you from the federal government, not private entities. It also doesn't protect you from others' reactions to whatever you decide to say, including comment-deletion reactions. Telling you to shut up or to at least stop swearing (or even ridiculing you for being an oversensitive, self-righteous, brash jerk) is nowhere close to violating your rights.

My high school teachers warned against this since usually the students reaching for the thesaurus had no idea what the connotations of the big word were, creating vaguely gibberish-like sentences.
So...duh.

Hey, I got this in my Easter basket one time, years ago! Cute and tasty. The bone was like a big SweetTart.

I'm surprised people searching for Bea Arthur missed with "author" rather than "bee."
I'm also surprised by how...not-insanely-stupid most of those are. I can't really blame people for misspelling someone's name they may have only heard before or a name with an atypical spelling, either because of random changes (eg, Rachael) or unfamiliarity ("Sotomeyer").

But Tim, obsessing over high-profile deaths is a tradition thousands of years old! :(
(Also, I don't think "whore mongering" means what you think it means.)

At best, the tree would've grown around the car.
This has all the elements of a good urban legend though. Sounds/looks awesome, seems plausible with the most basic knowledge about how determined plants can appear to be to grow and how strong trees are, plus the little memory of trees that have grown around street signs and the like.

Disappointing. I was expecting this to be like one of those billboards with a complex equation on it and the message, "If you can solve this, we're interested in you." That wasn't particularly confusing.

Even worse, I’ve got pictures of two different intersections with the word “stop” misspelled on the road…RIGHT NEXT to a STOP SIGN.
That implies they needed a reference to get the spelling correct. This just seems more like a big, public, hard-to-fix typo.

Yay, more rape! Only this way, it'll be the good kind of rape.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
