I have a reeeeeally hard time understanding how they can take themselves seriously. Bigotry aside (especially in this day and age), they dress and talk like a horrible permutation of a D&D group.
But if you avoid danger, you are more likely to live longer or experience a higher quality of life. Not all consequences of danger kill-- some of it leaves you permanently disabled/disfigured/in pain for several decades. Sure, society is stupid about trying to bubble-wrap everything, but we shouldn't in turn rush headlong into danger for no reason.
