Even reading about this with the explanation, I still feel wary of a possible scam in the offer or some sort of strings attached. Because c'mon, who gives out free money?

Before I got to the "head and upper body" part of that sentence, I thought they were implying the tumor accounted for 80% of her mass. Eek.

So she knew that it wouldn't be a kosher thing to do in advance. And technically, she still has a job there-- they didn't flat-out fire her. That said, anyone who would be so discomfited by a woman with cropped hair (boss or customer) really just needs to get over it.
So, what are California's redeeming qualities? Sure, it's pretty but every time I think of it, I also think of the aforementioned gas prices, housing prices, earthquakes/fires/mudslides...
I'm glad I live in Texas, where gas is usually a little lower than the other states. Regular still hasn't broken $4 in the parts I frequent. I would like to know why it went up 10 cents in just a couple of days a week or so ago, though (and more since then, of course).
