This is stupid...I was brought up by social liberal parents who banned any sort of toy gun, bow, or sword in case it encouraged violent urges in me. I was nearly chucked out of school for fighting all the time, and my bros in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban!
When I worked on a building site some of the workers 'decorated' our safety helmets - being a building site it was mainly football-based, or - of course - St. George's Flag. I had mine painted by few of the lads, and there were some abuse - but it was all good fun! (If they don't like you clear, it's more obvious than that)
The site's boss was cool with it, but then his boss' boss came along, and we had get our helmets replaced.
Apparently, they were 'Health and Safety' issues, but the more likely that the guy was bit of *ahem*, and just didn't like it.
I really miss those day's on the site :'( I could have sat in my gatehouse for an eternity reading, and listening to the radio.
Makes me wonder how many cures for obscure viruses and diseases out there...and how many possible cures for common viruses and diseases that have been ignored for the sake of more profitable market of treatments.
Once you've cured something, how is a pharmaceutical companies make money? They'll invest money only in things that guarantee a long-term profit, not to help rid world of AIDs, Hepatitis, and various other viruses and diseases that are hugely profitable. That's why there's hundreds of different ageing (both anti-ageing cream, and keeping old people alive even though it would more human to allow them dignity of death) treatments that completely unsuccesful - because there is a constant market for these 'treatments'.
I was reading the other day - in 'Time Paradox' by Philip Zimbardo (previously mentioned on Neatorama - thanks alot! :D ), that we misremember between 10 and 25% of memories. In some cases people imagine traumatic experiences that never happened, or forget the most traumatic experiences - which means our own sense of reality is mixture of imagination and forgetfulness! Hence, my developing theory disjunctioned reality.
p.s. Talking about spotting a celebrity - I thought I saw Justin Bieber on chatroulette the other day! Now I am not so sure, and I may have misremembered it! He didn't seem keen chatting, musn't be his sort of person.
It just seems so piffling rubbish - I mean, most of us have so much information outthere that apart from blocking non-friends from seeing those embarrassing drunken pics we all have, there's nowt else we can do.
And besides, how would people do party invites? I'm old enough to remember the card invite, and that was pretty lame!
When I was doing my first uni degree, my parents flooded with money, and I was easily spending £30-50 a day for months, none of which was anything that was use or lasted... I now have to watch every penny! Grrrrh!
I agree with Allen Gavin - that was dumb. And they didn't mention civilisations like Great Zimbabwe, or the Indus Valley Civilisation - that appeared to just disappear as easily as they appeared.
Game modding - years and years ago, I learnt how to make mods for Civilisation II, creating my old units based on the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, and the situation following the Soviet retreat. I designed all the units, including bazooka troops on the back of Toyota Hiluxs and musket-holding infantry men. It was awesome!
And I've done a little modding for Europa Universalis II as well, which was mind-meltingly dull recoding of certain events...yawn!

I do love my Iranian cuisine tho, preferably without a kitten!

At least that's my experience of Chinese food...
