Pac-Man Gets Hooked On Skyrim

(YouTube Link)

Watch as Pac-Man lets down Ms. Pac-Man, and his little Pac children, by succumbing to Skyrim addiction. This NSFW  pixel animation is very relatable these days, as Skyrim has created an epidemic of video game addiction virtually unmatched since the world was introduced to Warcraft.

C'mon Pac-Man, you know if you don't bring home those power pellets the Ms. is going to let herself get caught by a ghost!

The World's Largest Collection Of Toy Soldiers

There are thousands of tiny soldiers locked in eternal combat in Valencia, Spain, housed in the Museo de los Soldaditos de Plomo (museum of the little lead soldiers).

What started as a small collection belonging to Museum Director Alejandro Noguera's father has become a collection of over one million, with 85,000 on display in diorama scenes straight out of history. You can see more of Derek Workman's beautiful photos of the historical tableaus at the link below.

Epic Desk Doodle From The 90s

As the young'ns become slightly older'ns, and a new decade fad replaces the old, our popular interest sights are set upon the 1990s, a time of Bush/Clinton, Nicktoons and Cross Colours (which some kids felt the need to wear backwards, thanks to flash-in-the-pan kid rap act Kris Kross).

This massive desk doodle seems to sum it all up, in terms of animation anyways, with all the greats present and accounted for- Rugrats, Johnny Bravo, the Simpsons, Animaniacs, Sonic and Gumby? What's he doing in there?

A Collection Of Rock Star Appearances In Animation

(YouTube Link)

This collection of rock star appearances in animation is fun to watch, and may turn you on to some sweet cartoons you've never heard of, like this clip from Rock & Rule featuring Lou Reed performing "My Name Is Mok".

Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, Tom Petty, Marilyn Manson and Donnie Osmond all make guest appearances in this collection, and I know that Donnie Osmond isn't who most people think of when the term "rock star" is used, but he'll be the first to let you know that he's a "little bit rock n roll", so I guess that's good enough for me.

Van Gogh Paintings Recreated With Spices

I've seen Van Gogh paintings recreated with a variety of things, from food to plants to LEGOs, but this series by photographer Kelly McCollam seems to best capture the Impressionist feel.

That's because she used spices and other ingredients for cooking to recreate the scenes, and the textures feel much more like the original paintings than most recreations i've seen. And when she's done snapping pics of the scenes she's created, she can cook up a tasty meal!

Photo Series Featuring Gamers And Their In-Game Avatars

Have you ever wondered what people would look like if they could create their own ideal physical form, or what the heroes in their imagination look like as opposed to their everyday appearance? Well, this series by Robbie Cooper, entitled Alter Ego, explores the dynamics between the fantasy and real life forms of avid gamers.

This series made me think "when I create an avatar, what physical traits do I normally care about, and why?" What about you, do your custom made characters resemble the way you actually look, or an idealized form?

Chair Made From Dropping A Mannequin Onto A Metal Cube

Dropping a cement filled mannequin on a perforated metal trapezoid is a really strange way of creating a chair, and it looks as you would expect it would-crumpled and uncomfortable. But hey, you can't blame designer Ezri Tarazi for trying to come up with something new in the world of furniture design. If only he could find a more practical use for a cement-filled mannequin, say as a wrecking ball or to weigh down a snitch when he drops them in the ocean.

LOST Posters Inspired By Star Wars

LOST is long gone, and yet people continue to find inspiration from the show, and create some pretty sweet fan art as a result. This Star Wars inspired poster series by JJ & Jen Harrison seem to be opening a new chapter in the story of the survivors, and the artwork is quite well done. Maybe LOST took place a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away as well?

A Strange Little Trailer For Touch My Katamari

(YouTube Link)

All of the games in the Katamari Damacy series have been strange to say the least, so I guess Namco Bandai figured "why not make a commercial as strange as our game?" Well, they have definitely succeeded with this billiards inspired promo, which features a pool shark slowly transforming into the Prince of the Cosmos.

A Christmas Tree For The IT Department

Here's an inspired idea for all of you DIYers with tons of useless RAM sitting around, a Christmas tree made of RAM chips that would make the ultimate geek gift. And really, what else are you going to do with all that 128mb RAM you have squirreled away in a box somewhere?

A Roadkill Cake That Is Too Disgusting To Eat

I normally don't have a problem with blood and guts, but when someone makes a gory mess out of something delicious it tends to kill my appetite. And those who enjoy eating roadkill will probably be disappointed by the lack of possum goodness, so it looks like this cake is another case of look but don't slice. If anybody knows who created this bloody mess, I'd love to give credit where credit is due.

This Backpack Brings The Booming System With You

I know the latest trend in audio is to put speakers into clothing wherever possible, but this backpack speaker unit, complete with 8-inch woofer, seems like overkill. For one thing, it can't be good for the ears of whoever wears the thing. Then there's the fact that no one will want to be anywhere near you when this thing kicks off.

But if you need to have your theme music with you at all times, say while running from the cops or rappelling off a building, then this booming bag has got your back.

The Creepy Cute Paintings Of Xue Wang

London based artist Xue Wang has a fantastic, albeit dark, imagination which comes spilling out onto the canvas. Her influences seem to be classic cartoons, Mark Ryden and the surgery channel, with scenarios that seem like they came straight from a David Lynch movie.

You can entertain your eyeballs with more of Xue's incredible imagery at the link below, the insight into her influences and process alone are worth checking out.

The Un-Official Angry Birds Movie Trailer

(YouTube Link)

This Angry Birds parody trailer looks like it was made by Guy Ritchie, and really has nothing to do with the video game aside from the whole "pigs snatch their eggs, so the birds get revenge" dynamic. But it's sexy, funny, and really slick looking for a comedy short.

Pendle Witch Cottage Discovered In Lancashire

A 400-year old cottage was discovered by a construction crew near Pendle Hill (in northern England) that is believed to have been the home of one of the Pendle Witches. The eleven women known as the Pendle Witches were found guilty of murdering ten people with witchraft in 1612, and all but one were hanged for their supposed crimes.

Archaeologists believe this cottage has ties to witchcraft because they found the remains of a cat set inside a brick in the wall. From BBC News:

It is believed the cat was buried alive to protect the cottage's inhabitants from evil spirits...

Simon Entwistle, an expert on the Pendle witches, said: "In terms of significance, it's like discovering Tutankhamen's tomb.

"We are just a few months away from the 400th anniversary of the Pendle witch trials, and here we have an incredibly rare find, right in the heart of witching country. This could well be the famous Malkin Tower - which has been a source of speculation and rumor for centuries.

"Cats feature prominently in folklore about witches. Whoever consigned this cat to such a horrible fate was clearly seeking protection from evil spirits."

It will be interesting to see what develops in this case, perhaps the witches will be found innocent four centuries later.
