Sanguine Artworks By Jordan Eagles

When it comes to working with blood, the main drawback tends to be the limited supply of fluid medium pumping through the artist's veins.

Jordan Eagles has found a way around this limitation-he uses cow blood collected fresh from slaughterhouses so he never runs out of the red stuff.

It looks the same, has the same warmth of life and creates the same primal stirrings in the viewer as human blood, and its all in the way you use it, right?

You can peruse more of Jordan's sanguine works of art, and a couple of tripped out process videos, at the i09 link below. Bloody good show Jordan!

Promo Trailer For A Fantastic Fear Of Everything

(YouTube Link)

Simon Pegg's latest role is in A Fantastic Fear of Everything, a mind bending comedy with a dark side where he stars as "a paranoid children’s author-turned-crime-novelist who finds he’s being stalked by a real serial killer". Okay, I like the sound of it all so far....

But what really sold me on this movie is the fact that they incorporate stop motion animation, dream-like sets, and a sinister pipe smoking hedgehog into the film. Now that's what I call far out! Where can I pick up a sinister hedgehog for my house?

Walking Across The Wal-Mart Parking Lot When....WTF?!

Either the owner of this car is in a competition to see who can eat the most McDonald's, they're trying to build a passenger out of used fast food wrappers so they can drive in the carpool lane, or they're starring in a new reality show called Car Hoarders. Whatever the case, this person obviously knows how to live the high life!

I bet there's a Burger King party happening in the back seat, and the two are kept separate so another Burger War doesn't take place between the Brits and the good ol' U.S. of A. Go Team Ronald!

Photoshopped Image Of Russian Patriarchate

Apparently, the Russian Orthodox Church doesn't want the world to know that they're shot callers and big ballers, so they decided to manipulate the image above in order to remove the $30,000 watch from the Patriarchate's wrist.

Russian knowledge of Photoshop must not be up to snuff, because they forgot to remove the reflection of the watch from the table, so the controversy ensued.

When asked for an explanation, the watch's existence was denied and the Church vowed to look into this "technical mistake". The real mistake is that the Patriarchate is forced to greet the public without his pimp chalice and medallion chain!

Life Size Figures Made Out Of Trash

If you've ever called someone a "piece of trash", wait until you see these sculptures of trashy people made by Will Kurtz, and by trash I mean they're made out of garbage for a truly realistic look.

Will obviously drew some inspiration from the website People Of Wal-Mart, and from people he spots lurking around the streets of New York on his journeys through the urban jungle.

The sculptural versions of these trashy people are a bit scary, and they look as if they've just crawled out of the nearest dumpster, but I'm glad Will has so many colorful people around him to inspire some truly great works!

Sorry To Hear Your Toe Got Needled

(YouTube Link)

Sorry to hear your toe got needled is a strange little animated short that starts out stop motion and ends in traditional 2d style, and it all centers around a man's strange story about his injurious trip to the hospital.

It's cute, it's a cartoon, and even though watching it probably isn't covered by your HMO I won't tell if you don't!

Take A Tour Of The Minecraft Version Of Westeros

(YouTube Link)

With the second season of A Game Of Thrones finally on the air, it's time for the indomitable empire known as Geekdom to celebrate, and what better way to show our love for GOT than by making a Minecraft version of Westeros!

Enjoy your tour of this square and rather flat textured fantasy kingdom, but beware the Creepers!

Surreal Stop Motion Short-Luminaris

(YouTube Link)

This strange little film is called Luminaris, and it was created by Juan Pablo Zaramella from Buenos Aires.

If you've ever felt like you drift through your day, unsure of where you're going until you get there, then you'll probably relate to this short. You'll also relate if you keep hand written notes in your ears for safe keeping. Enjoy!

Glowing Life-Size Glass Skeleton Sculpture

This glass skeleton is not only a visual treat, thanks to the glowing Krypton gas flowing through the "bones", it's also a feat of sculptural engineering, since it was made in ten different sections that had to be interconnected in what must have been a rather tedious process. Created by sculptor Eric Franklin, Embodiment is the culmination of over 1,000 hours of work and stands 78 inches tall.

Here's a bit from Eric on how it was made:
Every glass seal has to be perfect, and this piece contains hundreds. Everywhere one tube joins another, or a tube terminates, glass tubes were sealed together. They have to be perfect in order to preserve the luminosity of the krypton. If one rogue molecule gets inside the void of the glass tubing it can eventually contaminate the gas and it will no longer glow.

There are times when the holes in the seals are so small that you cannot actually see them with your eyes without the help of a leak detector. Once the glass pieces are ready to get filled with gas, I pull a high vacuum while the glass is hot in order to evacuate any dust or water vapor from the interior surface until there are literally no molecules inside the void of the glass. Then the krypton can be introduced and the glass sealed off. It's an extremely tedious process, one I have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with.

I guess making this awesome work of art wasn't a real gas, I just hope Eric is noble enough to accept the praises that are sure to flow his way!

Scrap Metal Transformers Theme Park Opens In China

Chinese artist Kefeng Zhu and his team of artists use heavy metal as their medium, and the results are pretty darn neat. His unofficial Transformers theme park is called Mr. Iron Robot, and it's a big hit with kids from throughout the Zhejiang Province and beyond.

It took Kefeng and his team over 10 years to complete the sculptures, and the opening of the park on March 20, 2012 represents the culmination of a lifelong dream for Kefeng, and a new tourist destination for China.

The park houses 600 metal sculptures, which are made entirely of recycled scrap metal and various junked car parts, and they all look so cool that someone should create an animated series based around these guys, something like The Adventures Of Mr. Iron Robot Saving The World.

Super Dingo Vs. The Pirates

(YouTube Link)

This super strange short is called Super Dingo Vs. The Pirates, starring (surprise!) Super Dingo, a genetically modified dingo with a cyber eye and a bad attitude.

It's a comedic masterpiece starring a guy in a furry suit, a hilariously disheveled band of pirates, and a narrator so stereotypical it's hard to put your finger on which particular stereotype he represents. Watch as hilarity ensues, thanks to Super Dingo TV!

Valerie Hagerty Loves To Watch Her Art Burn

Take that works of art! These deconstructed pieces are brought to you by Valerie Hagerty, who demonstrates that old glam rock adage "you don't know what you've got till it's gone", with art that appears to be falling to pieces right before your eyes.

Her deliberate deconstruction makes you further appreciate the work that went into each piece before they came under the knife, or gun or blowtorch, and I imagine this type of artwork will be all the rage after the apocalypse.

Now when your tripped out friend says "the paintings are melting", your sober mind can confirm this fact and help him avoid having a bad trip. Check out more of Valerie's works at the links below, before they fall to the floor in a pile of pigment and rotten canvas.

Antique Photo GIFs Reveal The Dark Side Of History

Things are not as they seem in these antique photo GIFs, and they confirm that the dark side is a silly place indeed.

Clearly influenced by Monty Python's Terry Gilliam and old ghost stories, artist Kevin Weir has discovered a fun way to play with images from the Library of Congress' Flickr account.

Take a gander at the rest of these ghoulishly ridiculous animated delights at the links below, they're like waiting for paint to dry...and reveal a ghostly visage on the wall.

A Metal Sculpture That Plays The Breeze

This totally tubular work of public sculpture is called Aeolus, named after the god of the four winds in Greek mythology.

Aeolus is designed to play a sweet sound every time the wind blows, because it's made out of 310 polished steel tubes attached to an arch that helps channel the breeze into nature's melody.

Aeolus was made by artist Luke Jerram, who wanted to provide "both acoustic and optical sensations, with the pipes framing, inverting and magnifying the landscape"

Aeolus is on display at the Canary Wharf in London until May 10th, so if you're in the area you can give it a look and a listen and let us know what you think!
