Ethereal Long Exposure Nude Photography That's SFW

Safe for work and nude don't come together often, but when they do chances are there's something artsy going on.

In this instance the medium is long exposure photography, where the shutter is left open for an extended period of time which results in nude figures being transformed into ghostly forms.

These are the spellbinding images Shinichi Maruyama creates by taking time and adding movement, and the subjects are just as important to the final look of each piece as Shinichi's eye.

Here's what Shinichi has to say about his series Nude:

I tried to capture the beauty of both the human body’s figure and its motion.
The figure in the image, which is formed into something similar to a sculpture, is created by combining 10,000 individual photographs of a dancer.
By putting together uninterrupted individual moments, the resulting image as a whole will appear to be something different from what actually exists.
With regard to these two viewpoints, a connection can be made to a human being’s perception of presence in life.

Sound Advice On Screenwriting From Some Of Hollywood's Finest

When someone starts getting serious about writing screenplays it's a sure bet they'll eventually move to L.A., and this oversaturation of screenwriters in Hollywood makes it hard for amateurs to get advice on how to improve their skills.

Budding screenwriters should start by reading scripts from their favorite movies, many of which can be legally downloaded for free online, and check out this video from the Academy Originals YouTube channel entitled "What Advice Do You Have For Screenwriters?"

It features advice from heavy hitters lke Steven Spielberg and Danny Boyle (just to name a few), and the advice won't cost you a dime!

These Sad Robot Paintings Will Tug At Your Coronary Circuits

Why do images of sad robots tug at our heartstrings more than pics of sad people?

Maybe it's the fact that robots aren't supposed to have emotions, so we feel for those robotic units which were somehow constructed with the capacity to feel.

Or maybe it's because their rigid metal faces weren't made to form expressions, and yet even without facial features you can tell just how a robot is feeling by observing its body language.

Regardless of why you sympathize with sad robots you'll find lots of feels in this beautiful series of sad robot paintings by Matt Dixon, a guy who has been creating poignant droid paintings since 2006.

Matt doesn't always paint portraits of sad robots, but when he does he gets all hopped up on 10W-30 and cries motor oil tears to get himself in the proper mood.

How Mac Tonight Became The King Of Fast Food Commercials

TV commercials in the 90s were made at the crossroads of cheesiness, with some stylistically stuck in the 80s and others blazing new trails by using 3D animation to make their brand feel more modern.

But there's one beloved TV commercial staple that was still going strong in the 90s, and is still used to this day- the mascot character.

The McDonald's corporation has one of the all time best mascots in Ronald McDonald, but by the 90s they were looking for someone fresh to sell the McDonald's dinner scene, a cutting edge character with old school cool.

And thus Mac Tonight was born, a moon faced crooner played by actor Doug Jones who shilled burgers by starlight and made Baby Boomers feel groovy about eating at McDonald's again.

But Mac's rise wasn't as meteoric as you'd imagine, and the character hit a few snags on the way to becoming one of the biggest names in burger advertising.

Weird Al Stars In Every Sports Press Conference Ever

Sports press conferences are a bit of a joke, with the same non-specific and totally cliched phrases said at every one, no matter the sport or the outcome.

Coaches and players love to say things like "we're focused on our next game and intend to go out there and give it one hundred and ten percent" and "we'll be focusing on defense because defense wins games."

Basically, they're always busy saying nothing at all in the exact same way, whether they win or lose.

Weird Al Yankovic stars in this incredibly accurate portrayal of Every Post-Game Press Conference, which was posted on The Kicker, a new comedy website from Lorne Michaels' production company Broadway Video. It's a nothin' but net home run!

MMA Fighter Tries To Knock Down The Mountain From Game Of Thrones

The man who plays The Mountain on the TV series Game Of Thrones is an Icelandic actor, and World's Strongest Man title holder, named Hafthor Julius Bjornsson.

He's a 6 foot 9 inch tall beast of a man who weighs 400 pounds and seems to be made of pure muscle, but for some reason MMA featherweight fighter Conor McGregor isn't afraid to face The Mountain.

The fight looks a bit unbalanced, and Conor's blows seem to do very little to mighty Hafthor, but you've gotta admire young Mr. McGregor's moxie!

The Nightmare Before Snoopy - Ghost Dog, The Way Of The Skellington

The Nightmare Before Snoopy by DeepFriedArt

They say animated comedy is dead, or at very least sleeping like a beagle, but really it just looks a bit different nowadays. Where there was a vital and very much alive dog there's now a spunky spook of a dead dog who looks a bit like a flying sheet. The comedic leading man has been replaced by a guy with a skeleton body and a pumpkin for a head, but the love interest is still a total doll. There's still a peanuts gallery full of kooky characters, but now they look like they came from a child's nightmare instead of theirclassroom. And they'll still do Halloween and Christmas specials, they'll just roll them into one and add a sweet soundtrack by Danny Elfman. So I guess it's safe to say animated comedy is UNDEAD!

The Strange Realities Of Working In A Fake Colonial Town

Working in a fake colonial town drives employees batty, which isn't surprising since employees are method actors stuck in a place where they have to be "on" at all times and no trace of the modern world can be seen.

But even more unsettling than working somewhere without screens or ambient music is the fact that many fake towns stay historically accurate to a fault, like Colonial Williamsburg, where slavery still exists.

The presence of pretend slaves raises lots of questions in the minds of tourists, who are all too happy to ask whether the slaves get whipped, sold and how much it costs to buy them.

Luckily, many of the kids asking after a price say they want to know so they can set the slaves free, but imagine what must run through an actor's mind when they hear these kinds of questions!

The "Science" Behind The Plague Doctor's Mask

The strange bird-like look of the classic 17th century plague doctor mask, often seen during the Carnival Of Venice, has captured the imagination of artists who see it as equal parts creepy and visually compelling.

But did it have a practical function to match the eye pleasing form?

Here's the antiquated "science" behind the beaky shape of the mask:

The nose [is] half a foot long, shaped like a beak, filled with perfume with only two holes, one on each side near the nostrils, but that can suffice to breathe and carry along with the air one breathes the impression of the [herbs] enclosed further along in the beak. Under the coat we wear boots made in Moroccan leather (goat leather) from the front of the breeches in smooth skin that are attached to said boots, and a short sleeved blouse in smooth skin, the bottom of which is tucked into the breeches. The hat and gloves are also made of the same skin…with spectacles over the eyes.

The mask was but one element of the Plague Doctor's prescription costume, and the hat, coat, gloves and staff were equally important to keeping the doctor safe from sickness.

Driver's Body Is Ejected Onto Freeway Sign In Fatal Rollover Crash

When the nightly news features a story about a fatal car accident they usually leave out footage of the deceased, using shots of the crashed vehicle for dramatic effect instead.

(Image Link)

But a fatal accident that recently occurred on the 5 freeway in Los Angeles couldn't really be edited for TV and still tell the full story, because the driver's body was flung up onto a freeway sign for all to see.

The driver, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and sent flying up on to the Colorado St. freeway sign 20 feet above, and it took a fire crew three hours to get the body down. In the news report below, the body is shown from a distance, and is covered by a sheet.

It may seem cheesy to push the old "buckle up before you drive" message, but horrible accidents like this one show us how important it is to strap in and stay safe while driving, especially during the holiday season.

Oxford University Study Tests The Boundaries Of Touching

You don't have to be antisocial or stand-offish to feel creeped out by a stranger's touch, especially when their hands land on specific spots that trigger our "stranger danger" reflex.

Oxford University conducted the largest ever study on physical contact and comfort zones by asking 1,500 men and women from Finland, Britain, Russia, Italy and France to color in body maps showing where they felt comfortable being touched.

Darker areas indicate where the subjects felt least comfortable being touched, and unsurprisingly the subjects generally felt better about being touched by people they knew well.

However, the study showed that men felt comfortable letting a female stranger touch any part of their body, including their "taboo zone", while women were only comfortable letting male strangers touch their hands.

Civil War - Two Sides Of The Same Coin

Civil War by Ddjvigo

There's trouble brewing in the city of heroes, and Spider-Man is about to find himself torn over who to follow. Iron Man has been the glue keeping their superheroic worlds tied together for over a decade, but the role he played in creating the Superhero Registration Act, which resulted in the subjugation of their fellow super powered people, doesn't sit well with Peter. Cap didn't become an American icon by stepping on people to get to the top, but his radical approach to undermining the Reg Act is a little too venomous for mild mannered Mr. Parker. So which way will he go when he's forced to make a life altering decision?

Gear up for an important comic book milestone with this Civil War t-shirt by Ddjvigo, it's sure to make the spidey sense of your fellow fans start tingling with delight!
