Kids don't have a filter when it comes to blurting out whatever is on their mind, a quality that adults are envious of yet can cause embarrassment for their parents.

I was explaining to my niece the difference between things that can and can’t change about people. She was confused, because she’d met a set of three siblings and the eldest wasn’t the tallest.

So I told her that one day even SHE, an itty-bitty four year old, could be taller than me, a big huge grownup. But even if she was taller, I would always be older.

She looked me serious as you like and says, “You’ll be dead sooner too.”

But the unfiltered stuff that comes out of their mouth isn't always cute and endearing- sometimes it's downright chilling.

I can’t remember if she was 3 or 4, but our little daughter’s voice peeped up from the back seat one morning:

“Dad, do babies bathe in blood?”

They don't really understand why the words they're saying are disturbing to their parents, since they don't quite grasp grim concepts like murder and mortality.

But sometimes it's hard to believe they don't actually understand what's wrong with the words coming out of their mouths: 

My 6 year old daughter in the passenger seat a few days ago looked at me and said “Dad. When I’m seven I’m going to kill you. No, wait. When I’m eight.”

I had to ask, “How are you going to do that?”

She smiled and said, “I’m gonna drive over your head with this car.”

The Parents of Reddit were asked "What is the most dark/chilling thing your children have said?" and they shared stories of murder plans, predicted miscarriages and imaginary friends who go bump in the night:

My niece drew a picture “of a man in her room” that she kept telling her parents about. He had two different colored eyes, and one was gray.

When asked why it was gray, she responded, “Because he can see the storm coming.”

There's a reason The Simpsons is one of the most highly regarded TV comedies of all time- the writing is comedy gold.

From the ridiculously funny character development to the satirical nature of Springfield, USA to the witty jabs taken at politicians and famous people, people expect an irreverent laugh and the writers deliver.

They love to make the audience cringe with those uncomfortable jokes that make us say "sad but true", because it's better to laugh at the dark side of human civilization than let it turn you into Kirk Van Houten!

Being told you talk in your sleep can be somewhat nerve-wracking, since it's typically unclear what you actually said while you were sleeping.

And once we're told about this quirk we can't help but wonder which of our secrets are being exposed by our slumbering minds and overactive mouths, a nagging question that can drive you crazy if you let it.

But filmmaker Adam Rosenberg wasn't content to just wonder what he was saying, he wanted to get to the bottom of his sleepy time mumbling- so he set up a high quality microphone and recorded it all. (NSFW language)

There are plenty of fancy restaurants serving up expensive meals that are delicious and filling, but it seems the more pretentious restaurants have lost sight of the fact that they're supposed to serve good food, not gimmicks.

Head to Quince restaurant in San Francisco and you'll find one of the most ridiculous and pretentious concepts in fine dining ever conceived- frog legs and white truffle croquettes served on an iPad.

The croquettes plate is called A Dog In Search Of Gold, and it's served on an iPad showing a video of dogs hunting for truffles, part of a $220 fixed-price supper that otherwise sounds quite delicious.

The Michelin-starred restaurant also recently served up frog legs on an iPad showing a video of frogs leaping around a pond, just to remind diners where their meal actually came from.

There's a strange funereal practice that was outlawed by Chairman Mao back in 1949 but is starting to make a comeback in China- the practice of buying a cadaver bride to be buried with a family's unmarried son.

This "ghost marriage" is thought to prevent the unmarried son from going through the afterlife alone, and as grim as this practice may seem many Chinese people see ghost marriages as no big deal. 

Unfortunately, they also don't see anything wrong with paying grave robbers to dig up women for their sons, and this cadaver black market has led to murder for profit, since the freshly dead are far more valuable.

Recently a family in China paid about $3500 for the cadaver of a young girl, but as they were burying the coffin containing the girl and their son they heard noises coming from inside- and discovered the girl was still alive.

She had fallen victim to human traffickers who were kidnapping women from a shelter they ran for disabled people, sedating them and selling them as cadavers for ghost marriages.

Six men involved in the human trafficking ring were arrested, and the authorities were able to save five other women from a similar fate.

The period between Christmas and New Year's Eve has to be the least productive week of the year, since many people go in to work and sit there like a holiday husk even though their minds are a million miles away.

It actually seems fairly pointless to make people work during that week, so employers should take note of this Unearthed comic by Sara Zimmerman and dedicate the last week of work to watching cat videos!

Nothing brings actors together like co-starring in the same motion picture, and it's not uncommon for movie stars to meet on the set and become fast friends after months of filming.

Most people don't own a high visibility vest unless their job or hobby demands it, and if they don't own one they'll never know how many places that brightly colored safety garment can take them.

Because, as David Allegretti and his pal Sean discovered, the hi-viz vest is the key to entering restricted areas, and people won't think twice about letting you in while you're wearing that vest.

David and Sean's hi-viz vests got them into the movies for free, allowed them to amble around the zoo and even got them a front row spot at a Coldplay concert, because they looked like they were on the job.

Here's what David had to say about the hi-viz vest experience:

“There’s just something about uniforms that garner an almost naive trust. People trust uniforms. Most of us obey the word of those clad in uniforms”

In the quest to find new and exciting ways to combine snacking and drinking people have come up with some clever and delicious combos, but these wine and cheese shots are just plain wrong.

They were created by Brandi Milloy of PopSugar Foods, but whether she made them as a way to get revenge on her former wine club or simply because gross foods go viral is anybody's guess.

It's also unclear whether she really thinks drinking red wine out of a shot glass made of cheddar cheese is a heavenly experience, but she's really good at acting like she enjoys it!

There's only one Sonic, and yet every other hedgehog in the world naturally assumes they can become just like him if they discover his secret. Some think it's the gold rings, so they start stockpiling shiny things. Others believe it's his shoes and gloves, so they get a kind human to make them a pair of each so they can properly channel Sonic's style. Of course, none of these tricks actually work, but one little guy thought he'd pull out all stops and make the tranformation total- by painting himself blue. This seemed to work for a bit, as he felt like he was running faster than any hedgehog had run before, but then he became ill and realized he'd just covered himself in lead-based paint, and his super speed was nothing but a hallucination...
