Trump International Hotel and Tower in New York wants you to know that they are a family friendly hotel. They created the Trump Kids program to prove it to you. The program boasts a children's room service menu, a kids cocktail menu, and best of all provides printed business cards with each child's name. Business cards! I love it!
For littler guests they offer cribs, rocking chairs, strollers and no tear bath amenities. I guess they really want you to say, "You're hired, as my vacation destination."
In Tooronga, Australia a baby boy miraculously survived being hit by a train. The baby boy's Grandmother was watching him and his older brother. She became distracted and the baby's stroller rolled off platform and into the path of an oncoming train. Luckily, the train conductor was able to slow the train down a little. The baby suffered only minor cuts and bruises.
Just 6-months ago another baby stroller rolled in front of an oncoming train. That incident occurred only a few stations away.
Some schools in Indonesia are now giving sex education classes to kindergartners. The program is part of a joint effort by The World Population Fund and Indonesian Planned Parenthood. The goal is not only to teach children about body parts, but also about inappropriate touching. They hope that it will help children avoid becoming victims of sexual predators.
On a recent trip to Disneyland, after much begging, we purchased a giant Minnie Mouse balloon for our daughter. Twenty minutes later the thing broke free from its red ribbon and sadly flew away.
Next, of course, came the tears. Nothing is worse than a heart broken toddler. As we were just about to search out another balloon someone came up and informed us that Disneyland actually replaces lost balloons. We never knew this.
Turns out if you lose a balloon at Disneyland you just need to go to City Hall on Main Street and tell them what happened. We brought along the limp ribbon with Mickey weights attached as proof. The nice cast member wrote us a voucher for a replacement balloon. Now both daughter and parents were happy. Daughter got a new balloon and parents did not have to buy another balloon.
Do you have any fun facts about Disneyland to share?

A 4-year old little boy in Turkey was playing dangerously on an escalator when he fell from the top. Luckily a man watching the whole thing unfold was able to rush over and catch him.
Amanda McBride worked her usual shift in the morning. She left work early because she started to feel some discomfort. She drove home, picked up her partner and started to drive them both to the hospital. On the way to the hospital little Joseph Dominick Phillips was born in his Mommy's car. After she had the baby she decided to continue driving to the hospital since waiting for the paramedics would likely have taken just as long or longer.
Amanda drove the 2005 red Chevrolet Cobalt because Phillips suffers seizures.
“It wasn’t really that bad,” Amanda said of the labor pains.
At about Wilton, her water broke.
“She yelled at me to grab the wheel,” Phillips said. “And then, all of a sudden, I heard this little waaa (cry).”

A man in Northhampton, Massachusetts allegedly tried to trade his 3 month old daughter for either beer or crack cocaine. I guess there was a little confusion since the term he used could mean mean either. Oh, and he was willing to throw in her stroller to seal the deal.
It was around 1 p.m. on Monday when the nightmare started for one Chicopee mom. Thirty-one-year old Wendy Arsenault said she had no idea her boyfriend, 24 year-old Matthew Brace, was trying to trade her three-month-old baby girl to a Pride Gas Station service man for either beer or crack cocaine, while she shopped inside the Pride store on Burnett Road in Chicopee.
Police Chief John Ferrero said it wasn't just the baby Brace put into that service man's truck. To seal the deal he also added the baby's stroller, saying "For two 40's, you can have her."
Naming your kid after a werewolf or vampire's girlfriend is so last year. Why not try something more unique. How about giving your kid an elvish moniker like Radella for a girl. Radella means elfin adviser. Having a boy? Not to worry. How about Tegalad which means bringing light.
For more fun elfin names check out Mooky Chick's list. They also have suggestions for Gothic, vampire, Pagan, Celtic, and Wiccan names.
According to an article written by Ed Pilkington the closure of two hospitals in New York City has left Manhattan's 13 trained midwives out of a job. Under New York licensing rules midwives are required to be approved by a hospital or obstetrician. When St. Vincent's hospital closed a few weeks ago the midwives found themselves without the required paperwork and support to work legally in the city.
This city of more than 8 million people, with its reputation for being at the cutting-edge of modern urban living, now lacks a single midwife legally permitted to help women have a baby in their own homes. "It's pretty shocking that in a city where you can get anything any hour of the day a person cannot give birth at home with a trained practitioner," said Elan McAllister, president of the New York-based Choices in Childbirth.
The practice of the profession of midwifery is defined as the management of normal pregnancies, child birth and postpartum care as well as primary preventive reproductive health care of essentially healthy women as specified in the written practice agreement, and shall include newborn evaluation, resuscitation and referral for infants. Midwifery shall be practiced in accordance with a written agreement between the midwife and
a licensed physician who is board certified as an obstetrician-gynecologist by a national certifying body or
a licensed physician who practices obstetrics and has obstetric privileges at a general hospital (licensed under article twenty-eight of the public health law) or
a hospital (licensed under article twenty-eight of the public health law) that provides obstetrics through a licensed physician having obstetrical privileges at such institution. The written agreement shall provide for physician consultation, collaboration, referral and emergency medical obstetrical coverage, and shall include written guidelines and protocols. The written agreement shall provide guidelines for the identification of pregnancies that are not considered normal and address the procedures to be followed. The written agreement shall also provide a mechanism for dispute resolution and shall provide that the judgment of the appropriate physician shall prevail as to whether the pregnancy, childbirth or postpartum care is normal and whether the woman is essentially healthy in the event the practice protocols do not provide otherwise.

"B" is for "B" shaped bread. This is a great way to help your kids learn about the letter "B."
I seriously cheated with this project. I bought 3 tubes of ready to cook french loaf bread. The kids and I shaped it into the letter "B." Next, we baked it in the oven according to package directions.
After it was all done we served it with a little "b...b...butter". The kids loved this project. They are always asking to make more "B" Bread.
