Mick is a very rare koala with white fur and dark eyes and nose. Albino koalas have pink eyes and noses.

The creature, nicknamed Mick, was found blind and suffering from a variety of illnesses by a forest ranger and taken to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, north of Sydney.

He was immediately given round-the-clock security protection in case anyone tried to steal him and sell him to a collector for his novelty value.

After an operation on his eyes, he was put on antibiotics and gradually returned to full health.

Hospital staff kept Mick a secret while treating him. He has been released back into the wild at an undisclosed location, for his own safety. Rangers will try to monitor his whereabouts and his health. Link -via Fark

An underwater formation off the coast of Yonaguni Jima, Japan was discovered in 1986. Scientists are divided, with some believing the “pyramid” to be part of a 5,000 year old civilization, and some believing it to be a natural rock formation. Link to story. Link to more photos.

46-year-old Carnegie-Mellon professor Randy Pausch delivered his final lecture, entitled “How to Live Your Dreams” on Tuesday. Paush has terminal pancreatic cancer. The lecture is powerful and uplifting.

"What we're not going to talk about today," he continued, "is cancer, because I've spent a lot of time talking about that ... and we're not going to talk about things that are even more important, like my wife and [three preschool] kids, because I'm good, but I'm not good enough to talk about that without tearing up."

What he was there to discuss was how to fulfill your childhood dreams, and the lessons he had learned on his life's journey.
